ESPN's Jeremy Fowler pitched a trade idea where the Philadelphia Eagles would send wide receiver A.J. Brown to the Denver Broncos.

The Philadelphia Eagles have begun listening to trade offers for wide receiver A.J. Brown. The second-team All-Pro wideout, though, isn’t going to be cheap.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported Sunday that teams see packages with a second-round pick appropriate compensation for Brown. But ESPN’s Dan Graziano added “Philly’s asking price remains too high” for most teams.

Instead of draft picks, though, could the Eagles eventually accept a trade centered around a wide receiver swap? Fowler proposed the possibility.

On Sunday, Fowler pitched the Denver Broncos as a potential trade suitor for Brown. In the deal, the Broncos would send Courtland Sutton to Philadelphia.

“During the Eagles’ offensive coordinator search, some candidates got the impression that Brown was part of the plan,” Fowler wrote. “That’s why some around the league believe Roseman could target a veteran receiver as part of any trade package …

“If Denver wants to entertain a Brown-Courtland Sutton swap.”

Sutton has posted back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns the last two years since the arrival of quarterback Bo Nix in Denver. During 2025, Sutton made the Pro Bowl with 74 receptions, 1,017 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.

Brown had 78 receptions, 1,003 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games during 2025. He didn’t make the Pro Bowl.

But Brown is a three-time Pro Bowler and has also made second-team All-Pro on three occasions. Besides the 2025 Pro Bowl, Sutton’s only other post-season accolade was the Pro Bowl in 2019.

Could Eagles Trade A.J. Brown for Another WR Such as Courtland Sutton?

The biggest takeaway from the ESPN report Sunday was the fact Philadelphia’s trade asking price for Brown is regarded as too high around the league.

Things can always change quickly. But based on the chatter at the NFL combine, it will take more than a second-round pick for a team to acquire Brown.

With that in mind, Fowler pitched an intriguing hypothetical. The Eagles could move Brown for another veteran receiver.

It’s unlikely Sutton will be enough either. The Broncos wideout is a less successful, older player than Brown. Sutton will turn 31 in October while Brown will celebrate his 29th birthday during June.

But if the Broncos are willing to include Sutton and draft compensation, then the Eagles could replace Brown with a veteran receiver and then have an extra pick to find another wideout in the draft.

Should Sutton and a Day 2 draft pick be too expensive for Denver, perhaps a fourth-rounder paired with Sutton could work. Or, the teams could make a draft pick exchange with Philadelphia including a selection as well.

Will the Eagles Ultimately Trade Brown?

As expected, Brown certainly has a market since the Eagles revealed they would shop the wideout. But it’s far from a guarantee the receiver will change teams this offseason.

That’s in large part because the Eagles are setting a high asking price. They are doing that to present the front that they don’t have to trade the second-team All-Pro pass-catcher.

“The Eagles will always listen to trade offers, but if they’re going to move Brown, it sounds like they’d have to be blown away,” Graziano wrote. “If you’re not ready to talk about at least your first-round pick, I don’t think that conversation is getting very far at the moment.”

The question becomes, will the Eagles get that “blown away” trade offer? A team might have to be really desperate for receiver help to make a king’s ransom offer for a soon-to-be 29-year-old receiver.

And if a team does ultimately decide to make that offer, it could come after the 2026 NFL Draft.
