The Broncos have officially announced their trade with the Dolphins for Jaylen Waddle, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports, a move that bolsters the team's wideout corps, which Sutton led last season. In 17 regular-season games in 2025, Sutton parlayed his team-leading 124 targets into a 74-1,017-7 receiving line, with Troy Franklin next in line in terms of targets with 104. The addition of Waddle -- a 2021 first-rounder -- gives Denver a dynamic playmaker to pair with Sutton, providing the team with a strong 1-2 punch at wideout, supplemented by Franklin, Pat Bryant and Marvin Mims, with Lil'Jordan Humphrey along with Michael Bandy rounding out the current WR depth chart. As the 2026 campaign approaches, Sutton isn't necessarily the Broncos' clear-cut top option at the position, a standing that Waddle has the upside to claim should he mesh well with franchise QB Bo Nix.

Courtland Sutton: Breaking News
Records TD in playoff loss
Sutton brought in three of five targets for 17 yards and a touchdown in the Broncos' 10-7 loss to the Patriots in Sunday's AFC Championship Game. Sutton helped Denver's afternoon get off on the right foot with a six-yard touchdown reception to cap off the Broncos' second possession. However, the veteran went on to have a key drop later in the first half and struggled to make much of an impact the rest of the way while frequently being shadowed by New England's standout cornerback Christian Gonzalez. Sutton had a relatively unremarkable two-game postseason run save for Sunday's TD grab, as he finished with a combined 7-70-1 line on 14 targets in that span.
Comes alive at key juncture in win
Sutton secured four of nine targets for 53 yards in the Broncos' 33-30 overtime divisional-round win over the Bills on Saturday. Sutton was held off the stat sheet for three-plus quarters, but he came alive on Denver's go-ahead fourth-quarter drive with catches of 11, 25 and six yards during the possession. Sutton added an 11-yard grab on the first drive of overtime before also drawing a key 17-yard pass-interference penalty on what would turn out to be the Broncos' game-winning drive. However, Sutton will now have to build quick chemistry with veteran backup Jarrett Stidham, who lines up to draw the start in an AFC Championship Game matchup against either the Texans or Patriots on Sunday, Jan. 25 due to Bo Nix having suffered a fractured ankle Saturday that will prevent the second-year signal-caller from playing again in the postseason.
