The end of Kevin Patullo’s tenure with the Philadelphia Eagles didn’t go well. After just one season as offensive coordinator, Nick Sirianni and the team relieved him of that role. That change came following the Eagles struggling on offense just a year removed from a record-setting and Super Bowl-winning campaign.
This week, Patullo addressed his Eagles tenure and departure for the first time publicly. All indications are the assistant coach learned a lot which he will apply to his new role with the Miami Dolphins.
“All five years in Philadelphia, I had such a handle on a lot of different things,” Patullo told The Sun Sentinel’s David Furones. “I was an assistant head coach. I was part OC throughout my entire time there. Even last year, I so heavily involved in a lot of things.
“I just think the experience of going through that, from building a program up from 21′ to this past year … Just seeing what goes into it when you have a new roster, and you’re trying to set a new culture in place. You’re trying to set a new offense in place.”
This will be the first season Patullo is not on Sirianni’s staff with the Eagles. Patullo also coached under Sirianni with the Indianapolis Colts.
The Dolphins hired Patullo as pass game coordinator this offseason.
Kevin Patullo to Continue Coaching Without Nick Sirianni
Patullo’s NFL coaching career dates back to 2007. He coached under several notable coaches early in his career, including Herm Edwards, Chan Gailey and Ken Whisenhunt.
But Patullo has been tied to Sirianni since 2018. With the Colts from 2018-20, Sirianni was the Indianapolis offensive coordinator while Patullo was on staff.
During the first two years of that three-year stint, Patullo was the team’s wide receivers coach. Then in 2020, Patullo was the Colts pass game specialist.
Patullo followed Sirianni to Philadelphia in 2021. He was a pass game coordinator for four years before becoming offensive coordinator during 2025. Patullo also held associate head coach in his title during 2023 and 2024.
As Eagles fans know, though, things didn’t go particularly well for the team’s offense last season. Under Patullo, Philadelphia finished 19th in scoring and 24 in yards during 2025.
The Eagles were seventh in points and eighth in yards when they won the Super Bowl during the 2024 campaign.
Injuries along the offensive hurt Patullo’s unit. But that still doesn’t really explain how Saquon Barkley went from averaging 125.3 rushing yards per game in 2024 under previous head coach Kellen Moore to 71.3 last season in Patullo’s offense.
