It doesn’t matter what league former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson plays in — he’s got trade value everywhere.
Just 1 year after he was traded from the Cleveland Browns to the Philadelphia Eagles, Thompson-Robinson was involved in a “blockbuster trade” in the UFL on Sunday when he was traded from the Orlando Storm to the Birmingham Stallions in exchange for quarterback Matt Corral and defensive end Amani Bledsoe.
Corral was a 3rd round pick by the Carolina Panthers in the 2023 NFL draft. Bledsoe played 5 seasons in the NFL for 3 different teams from 2019 to 2023.
“WE’VE GOT A TRADE,” the UFL wrote on its official X account on Sunday. “The Birmingham Stallions are trading QB Matt Corral and DE Amani Bledsoe to the Orlando Storm for QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson.”
Thompson-Robinson was waived as part of the Eagles’ final roster cuts in August 2025.
Eagles Traded Former 1st Round Pick for DTR
The Eagles traded backup quarterback and former 1st round pick Kenny Pickett to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for Thompson-Robinson and a 2026 5th-round pick.
Thompson-Robinson couldn’t overtake the momentum created by backup quarterback Tanner McKee at the end of the 2024 season.
“The #Eagles were likely going to cut Dorian Thompson–Robinson and Kyle McCord,” CBS Sports NFL Reporter Jeff Kerr wrote on his official X account. “McCord wasn’t ready to be QB3 and neither showed enough to warrant using a roster spot on in camp. Then there is the Tanner McKee finger injury. If Jalen Hurts gets hurt, this team wasn’t going to roll into Week 1 with Thompson-Robinson and McCord. They needed a proven backup that has starting experience (see Sam Howell). The QB room is Hurts, McKee, and Howell.”
DTR Looking for Another Chance in NFL
Thompson-Robinson made 48 starts in 5 seasons at UCLA and was a 2-time All-Pac-12 selection before the Browns drafted him in the 5th round (No. 140 overall) in 2023.
In 5 starts over the last 2 seasons, Thompson-Robinson went 1-4 and didn’t look like a competent NFL quarterback when he did get that chance — something he will have to shake off if he wants another chance in the league.
In those 5 starts, Thompson-Robinson threw for 880 yards, 1 touchdown, and a stunning 10 interceptions while completing just 52.6 percent of his passes. He did show some effectiveness running the ball, with 35 carries for 187 yards and no touchdowns. He also averaged 5.3 yards per carry.
In a strange twist, Thompson-Robinson’s one win as a starter came against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 11 of the 2023 season … with Pickett as the Steelers’ starting quarterback.
Thompson-Robinson’s age — he’s only 26 years old — and experience should make him an attractive option as QB2 or QB3 for a wide swatch of teams if he can perform well in the UFL this season, which he hasn’t really had the chance to do to this point.
Through the 1st 4 games with the Storm, the 6-foot-1, 206-pound Thompson-Robinson had served primarily as a backup to another former Pac-12 star in quarterback Jack Plummer, who played for Cal in 2022 and was a backup quarterback for the Carolina Panthers in 2024.
