The legendary “Giant Killer” is hanging up his cleats.
Former Philadelphia Eagles running back Boston Scott, who became famous for playing his best games against the Giants, announced his retirement on Wednesday with a post on his official X account.
Scott played for the Eagles from 2018 to 2023 and spent the 2024 season on the practice squads for the Los Angeles Rams and Pittsburgh Steelers.
“I thought it would be after a Super Bowl win where I rode off into the sunset,” Scott wrote. “I thought it would be an injury where the cons outweighed the pros on whether or not to continue. I thought it would be my body starting to wear and slow down and it was obvious I lost a step. I thought it would be a situation that presented itself that would be something I could control. But I remembered that God is the one who placed me there. Not me. We don’t get to determine how he wants to refine us, we have to walk by Faith and not by sight.”
Scott was 1 one of the shortest players in NFL history at 5-foot-6 and 203 pounds.
In 6 seasons with the Eagles, Scott had 3,408 all-purpose yards and 20 total touchdowns to go with $11.468 million in career earnings.
“Former Eagles RB Boston Scott announces his retirement from football,” The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Jeff McLane wrote on his official X account on Wednesday. “Scott, who didn’t play the last 2 years, spent six seasons (2018-23) in Philly. Some of his best games came against the Giants.”

Eagles fans will always remember Week 17 of the 2019 season, when he totaled 138 yards and 3 TDs to help clinch a playoff spot in a win over the Giants.”
Boston Scott: From 6th Round Pick to NFL Career
Scott’s unlikely NFL career came after he ran for a career-high 1,047 yards and 8 touchdowns at Louisiana Tech in 2017, and averaged 6.4 yards per carry for his career.
After he ran the 40-yard dash in a blazing 4.41 seconds at Louisiana Tech’s Pro Day, Scott was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the 6th round (No. 201 overall) in the 2018 NFL draft but never played in a regular-season game for the Saints.
He had the best year of his career in 2020, when he racked up 1,176 yards from scrimmage. Scott played a big role for the Eagles in the playoffs following the 2022 season, when he scored 2 touchdowns and played in a Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
