The Pittsburgh Steelers appear to be making a big push to address the wide receiver position this offseason. They made headlines by trading for two-time 1,000-yard wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. Now, they are welcoming in multiple wide receiver prospects to start this week.
According to insider Nick Farabaugh, Cincinnati wide receiver Jeff Caldwell and Kentucky wide receiver Kendrick Law are both scheduled to visit Pittsburgh on Monday. After watching the tape from last season, new Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy is looking to upgrade the position.
The Pittsburgh Steelers Look to Become More Dynamic on Offense

GettyThe Steelers have six draft picks within the first four rounds of the upcoming NFL Draft.
While the Steelers wait for an answer on whether or not future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers will return in 2026, they are continuing to address positions around the quarterback. That is why the team is bringing in Caldwell and Law for visits to see if they could fit in the Steel City. Caldwell, who led all wide receivers at the NFL Scouting Combine in the broad jump, and Law are a pair of dynamic playmakers looking to make an impact at the next level.
Remember, Steelers Pro Bowl wide receiver DK Metcalf was the only pass-catcher to record over 500 receiving yards in 2025. That is significant, and McCarthy is looking to accrue more talent at that position. Furthermore, veteran players such as wide receiver Calvin Austin III and team MVP Kenneth Gainwell, who led the team in receptions (73), both joined new teams in free agency. The addition of Pittman should certainly provide some reliability in the receiver room.
Mike McCarthy Has a Strong History With Wide Receivers

GettyMike McCarthy is fourth among active NFL head coaches in combined wins (185).
Part of the reason why McCarthy has had so much success as an NFL head coach for 18 seasons (2006-2018, 2020-2024) is his ability to develop prolific offenses. While he deserves plenty of credit for helping to mold or coach great quarterbacks such as Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers, Dak Prescott, Alex Smith, etc., he also deserves credit for identifying great pass-catchers.
During his 13-year run with the Green Bay Packers, McCarthy drafted and developed Pro Bowl-caliber wide receivers such as Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, and Davante Adams. Not to mention the fact that he also helped coach a receiver who has a case for the Hall of Fame in Donald Driver. McCarthy notably drafted and developed All-Pro wide receiver CeeDee Lamb with the Cowboys, as well.
So, Steelers fans should be content with the type of approach that their new head coach and their team are taking as they look to see an improved pass-catching group in 2026. If Rodgers ends up making a return to play his 22nd career season and second with the Steelers, his connection with McCarthy could increase the likelihood that Pittsburgh takes a leap on offense in 2026.
Remember, at age 42 and despite battling a fractured wrist, the four-time MVP and Super Bowl champion recorded 25 total touchdowns and just seven interceptions en route to guiding to franchise to its first AFC North title in five years this past season.
