Veteran running back Najee Harris continued to pursue new NFL opportunities this week. Harris officially visited with the Las Vegas Raiders on Friday according to the NFL’s official transaction wire.
The visit came about a week after NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Harris would see the Raiders. At the end of March, the running back met with the Seattle Seahawks.
Harris is looking for his next NFL team after spending 2025 with the Los Angeles Chargers. He played in just three games before suffering a season-ending Achilles injury.
Across four seasons with the Steelers, Harris never missed a game. He ran for at least 1,000 yards every season from 2021-24, topping out at 1,200 rushing yards in 2021.
RB Najee Harris Visits Las Vegas Raiders
Just like his visit with the Seahawks, Harris left Las Vegas without a new contract. But the veteran running back appears to be inching closer to his next NFL opportunity.
With the Raiders, Harris could be a change of pace to second-year running back Ashton Jeanty. The 2025 No. 6 overall pick, Jeanty is firmly entrenched as Las Vegas’s starter in the backfield.
Harris might have more opportunities if he signed with the Seahawks. Seattle would also offer a chance to go on a deep playoff run, which Harris has yet to do at the NFL level.
During his college career at Alabama, Harris helped the Crimson Tide win the National Championship twice in 2017 and 2020.
The Seahawks, though, already have seven running backs on their roster. The team could also draft another. Many NFL analysts have projected running backs to Seattle on Day 2 of the 2026 draft.
Harris is accustomed to sharing the backfield the past few years. Beginning in 2023, Jaylen Warren began cutting into Harris’s playing time.
The Steelers drafted Harris at No. 24 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. He was the first first-round pick of the Omar Khan era.
Despite his consistency, the team didn’t exercise the fifth-year option of his rookie deal. Harris then left in free agency for the Los Angeles Chargers after the 2024 campaign.
Harris Aiming to Bounce Back in 2026
The former Steelers running back experienced a year to forget in 2025.
The running back sustained a “superficial” eye injury during a July 4 fireworks accident last year. Due to the injury, Harris began his first training camp with the Chargers on the NFI list.
Harris didn’t play at all during the preseason.
He kept his streak of playing in NFL regular season games alive, though, with a return for Week 1. Harris fulfilled a complementary role to Chargers rookie running back Omarion Hampton.
That ended on September 21 when Harris suffered his season-ending Achilles injury.
In three contests with the Chargers, Harris ran for 61 yards on 15 carries. He averaged 4.1 yards per rush. Harris also had three receptions for 25 yards.
The veteran running back will be out to prove he can still be the reliable asset he was in Pittsburgh.
Over four seasons with the Steelers, Harris ran for 4,312 yards and 28 touchdowns. He also had 180 catches, 1,149 receiving yards and six receiving scores.
Harris led the NFL with 381 touches as a rookie in 2021.
