Cooper Kupp of the Seattle Seahawks looks on against the San Francisco 49ers during the fourth quarter on September 07, 2025 in Seattle, Washington.

After being released by the Los Angeles Rams due to repeat injuries and a massive cap hit, Cooper Kupp was signed as a free agent with the Seattle Seahawks during the 2025 offseason. With high hopes from fans and teammates alike, Kupp has a big season ahead of him in Seattle.

Following an underwhelming week 1 against the San Fransisco 49er’s, Kupp made up for it with an impressive display during week 2. Playing against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Kupp nabbed 7 out of 8 targets for 90 yards. He did so while showing versatility on the field, playing both slot and out wide throughout the game.

In recent interviews regarding Kupp’s future with the Seahawks, both quarterback Sam Darnold and Offensive Coordinator Klint Kubiak have positive outlooks regarding what Kupp has to offer the Seahawks.

Kubiak’s Comments

After signing with the Seahawks, Kupp has done something not often seen among other wide receivers. The 32-year-old has made it a part of his routine to sit in on QB meetings. He does this in hopes of better understanding Sam Darold and his passing goals.

When asked if he had seen other non-quarterbacks having such a heavy presence around other quarterbacks,  Sam Darnold said this about Cooper Kupp, “No, I haven’t. He’s always in the QB room. Very early in the morning, very late as well. He just loves football and that’s what you want out of everybody on the team.”

Offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak also went on to praise Kupp’s worth ethic, stating,

“He’s one of the best teammates I’ve ever been around. He’s a leader, and it’s no BS, like Sam said, he’s in there as long as the QBs are. He’s got great questions, he’s always pushing our offense forward and pushing the coaches as well.”

Kupp’s Response

When asked about his time spent in quarterback meetings, Kupp responded,

“It’s been part of how I think my mind works. I want to know what the quarterback’s thinking. I want to know the details behind what we’re trying to get done and the intent behind the plays. No one knows that better than the quarterbacks. So, I will just be sitting there, soaking up as much information as I can. There is always a learning curve to it, so you don’t want to slow yourself down with too much information. But being able to internalize the things that are helpful and letting it go in one ear and out the other are the things that might just slow you down. So, I’m really thankful for Janokes (Andrew Janocko) and the QBs for letting me just sit there and being a part of things. For me, it’s really helpful to allow me to play how I want to.”

Although Kupp spends his days off prioritizing his family, he highlights the importance of this preparation when it comes to success. He cares not only about his own success, but his teams success as well.

Currently the Seahawks are 4th in the NFC West. After a tough loss in week 1 to the San Fransisco 49er’s, they made a come back in week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. They face off against the New Orleans Saints this Sunday at 1:05 pm.
