Rachaad White didn’t need a long statement or a formal goodbye to get his point across.
As Yahoo Sports noted, his message was blunt yet very emotional as he said goodbye to Buccaneers’ fans.
Shortly after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were eliminated from playoff contention, Rachaad White posted a cryptic message on X:
“Damn,I’m forever grateful.”
Not long after, an Instagram story followed with a photo from inside the Bucs’ locker room paired with the words:
“Uno out. Thank yaw forever for da past 4 years.”
White is set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and the posts read less like frustration and more like a goodbye.
As one local reporter put it, it “certainly seems” his time in Tampa Bay has come to an end.
Rachaad White’s Tampa Bay Career
Drafted in the third round in 2022, White spent four seasons with the Bucs.
He became a reliable three-down option, trusted not only as a runner but as a pass catcher. He was also one of the team’s best pass-blocking backs.
White finishes his Buccaneers tenure with 2,656 rushing yards, 1,450 receiving yards, and 25 total touchdowns, while missing just one game across four seasons.
Even during a down year in 2025, he averaged 4.3 yards per carry, leading all Tampa Bay running backs in efficiency.
Advanced metrics back up his steady impact.
Pro Football Sports Network graded White with a 77.4 RB Impact Metric (C+), ranking him 21st among all NFL running backs this season.
This was solid production for a player whose role became increasingly fluid as the year went on.
Coaches always trusted him in big moments, and Baker Mayfield trusted him to help with protection issues when things broke down up front.
A Shrinking Role and a Likely Fresh Start
While White’s overall value remained, his role changed in 2025.
Bucky Irving emerged as the primary ball carrier, and even when Irving missed time, White didn’t fully reclaim a workhorse role.
Instead, snaps were split more evenly, with Sean Tucker carving out a consistent role alongside him.
That shift was telling.
Tampa Bay appears ready to move forward with a younger, cheaper backfield, leaving White in an awkward middle ground.
As free agency approaches, several potential landing spots make sense.
The Washington Commanders stand out due to White’s history with Jayden Daniels at Arizona State and their need for a true receiving back.
The New Orleans Saints could view him as a natural successor to an aging Alvin Kamara.
And the Kansas City Chiefs have openly explored upgrades at running back, where White’s pass protection and versatility would fit in a role they lacked this season.
Nothing is official yet.
But White’s postgame message made it clear that he most likely will be wearing another uniform next season.
