Tennessee spent the entire offseason stocking up on shiny new weapons for Cam Ward, but none of it will matter if the front office leaves the interior pocket wide open.
National outlets recently hit the Titans with a brutal reality check by ranking their offensive line dead last at No. 32 in the NFL—and while JC Latham and Peter Skoronski lock down their respective spots, the right guard position remains a complete, volatile mess.
Relying on an unproven training camp battle to protect a prized rookie quarterback is a recipe for disaster. But the Titans have a simple way out to dodge it.

Titan Sized’s Will Lomas floated around a very real possibility of the Titans making a call they wouldn’t normally make.
The reasoning holds up as well: with an elite talent like Myles Garrett changing teams, any roster is open for business, giving Tennessee a golden chance to shore up a position starving for reliable depth.
“If the Rams want to make sure they have the flexibility to bolster their roster when injuries inevitably hit, then they should look to create cap space without hurting their starting lineup too much. The Rams might shut the Titans down, but that shouldn’t stop Mike Borgonzi from calling them about right guard Kevin Dotson,” Lomas writes.
“While the Titans are high on their young interior offensive linemen (Jackson Slater, Pat Coogan, Fernando Carmona), everyone would almost certainly feel more comfortable with a veteran in front of Cam Ward this year.”
Los Angeles already has young, cost-controlled interior depth, like Steve Avila and Jonah Jackson.
Sacrificing a $16 million guard becomes the easiest way for LA to balance the books after a Garrett acquisition.
“The Titans have more than enough cap space to afford to bring in Dotson comfortably, and it would round out their offensive line perfectly,” Lomas adds, making it a win-win for both teams.
“The Titans get to add a younger, bigger version of Kevin Zeitler to the offensive line, which would help JC Latham and Austin Schlottmann. If the Rams are on board, the Titans should make this deal immediately.”
Rookie Fernando Carmona Emerging as a Clear Frontrunner

Until a trade like that materializes, Tennessee has to rely on internal options. And the early returns aren’t inspiring complete confidence.
While fifth-round rookie Fernando Carmona has pushed past a struggling Cordell Volson for first-team reps, handing the keys to a day-three rookie with unproven depth behind is a complete gamble.
With Jackson Slater strictly serving as depth behind Peter Skoronski on the left, Tennessee is effectively heading toward Week 1 with zero proven depth on the right side.
Until the offensive line can show consistency in regular-season games and not be a big question mark, the trade rumors will keep swirling one way or another, and Titans will have no way to shut them down.
