NFL insider Aaron Wilson reported head coach Dan Quinn and the Washington Commanders hosted an offensive lineman and edge rusher for workouts this week.

Ahead of their Monday Night showdown against the Chicago Bears, the Washington Commanders are considering roster tweaks on both offense and defense. NFL insider Aaron Wilson reported the Commanders hosted offensive lineman Julian Good-Jones and edge rusher Drake Jackson for workouts this week.

Both were reportedly at the team facility Tuesday.

Jackson, who is a former second-round pick, has also visited other teams this week. NFL Trade Rumors’ Nate Bouda speculated that Jackson’s high demand likely means he will sign with a team before Week 6.

Good-Jones could return to Washington after spending the offseason with the Commanders. The team released him as part of their roster cuts in August.

A former undrafted free agent, Good-Jones has dressed for one NFL regular season game in his career. That was with the Commanders in 2023. Last season, he spent the entire campaign on the Washington practice squad.

The Commanders signed Good-Jones to a futures contract following the 2025 NFC championship game in January.

Could Commanders Bring Back Guard Julian Good-Jones?

The 28-year-old guard began his NFL career as an undrafted rookie in 2020 with the Philadelphia Eagles. After he didn’t make the Eagles roster during his first season, he signed with the Calgary Stampeders in the CFL.

Good-Jones had a second stint with the Eagles before joining the Commanders. The guard spent the beginning of the 2023 campaign on the Eagles practice squad. He remained on that squad until the Commanders signed him to their active roster.

The guard made his NFL regular season debut with Washington during Week 18 of the 2023 season against the Dallas Cowboys. Good-Jones played two offensive snaps.

The Commanders have four guards on their active roster — Brandon Coleman, Nick Allegretti, Chris Paul and Andrew Wylie. All four players have officially started games this season.

Washington also has two guards on its practice squad — Tyler Cooper and Timothy McKay.

Commanders Host Edge Rusher Drake Jackson for Visit

Washington faces some stiff competition to sign Jackson, some of which is coming from an NFC East rival.

Bouda wrote Tuesday in addition to the Commanders, Jackson met with the Baltimore Ravens and New York Jets. On Wednesday, NFL Trade Rumors’ Jonathan Comeux wrote the Eagles hosted Jackson for a workout.

The San Francisco 49ers drafted Jackson at No. 61 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft. In three seasons with the 49ers, he posted six sacks over 23 games. Jackson also had five tackles for loss, nine quarterback hits, nine pass defenses and one interception.

Jackson didn’t play at all last season because of a season-ending knee injury he sustained during training camp.

The 49ers waived Jackson in May. He hasn’t received a new opportunity with another NFL team yet, but the edge rusher has still been recovering from his knee injury.

Jackson played three seasons for USC during his college career. His best statistical season was arguably his freshman year in 2019. He posted 5.5 sacks, 12 tackles for loss and three pass defenses.

Over 28 games overall, Jackson had 12.5 sacks, 26 tackles for loss and four pass defenses. He also registered 103 combined tackles for the Trojans.
