A notable NHL insider revealed the pieces the New York Rangers were unwilling to part with in a potential Quinn Hughes trade.

The Minnesota Wild remain in hot pursuit of Rangers center Vincent Trocheck ahead of the trade deadline on Friday.

The Wild will likely have to outbid the Detroit Red Wings. This could be problematic, as Minnesota dug deep into their bag of prospects for the Quinn Hughes trade. That trade saw them move off of Marco Rossi, Liam Ohgren, Zeev Buium, and a 2026 first-round selection.

The Wild do have a couple more prospects that they could part with. Charlie Stramel, Jesper Wallstedt, and Carson Lambos come to mind. However, it’s likely that two of the three would have to be dealt in order to bring Trocheck to the State of Hockey.

Thankfully, per ESPN’s Emily Kaplan, we now know roughly what the Wild are offering to New York.

Kaplan revealed the basis of a Trocheck-to-Minnesota trade.

There has been plenty of interest from teams other than Minnesota, whose trade offer I believe centers around prospect Charlie Stramel and a 2027 first-round pick as well as another player or prospect.

Trocheck holds a 12-team no-trade list and has said many teams on the West Coast are on it, for family reasons. Rangers GM Chris Drury has told peers that because he has Trocheck under contract for three more seasons, he doesn’t necessarily have to do anything now. That could just be posturing.”

ESPN’s Ryan S. Clark also provided a mock trade for Trocheck and the Wild.

    • Wild receive:
      • C Vincent Trocheck
    • Rangers receive:
      • 2027 first-round pick
      • 2028 second-round pick
      • D Carson Lambos (Iowa Wild prospect)
      • F Charlie Stramel (Michigan State prospect)

Vincent Trocheck Doesn’t Want To Be Stuck In Same Situation In New City

Trocheck recently talked with reporters ahead of the Rangers’ game against the Blue Jackets on Monday night.

If I’m gonna get traded to a team that’s in the same situation as us, then I don’t want to move. That sounds miserable in a new city. I am 32 years old. I would like to win a Stanley Cup, so if I am going to get traded, I would like to go to a team that’s winning, or has a chance to win.”

Trocheck touched on being involved in his own trade talks.

I feel like I’m as involved as I can be. I only have a 12-team no-trade clause. It’s not like I have full protection and I need to be in with them on every single phone call.

But I mean, me and [GM Chris Drury] have a great relationship. He’s been very open and honest with me and transparent, so I feel like I get as many calls as a player could get.”

Russo confirmed that the Minnesota Wild are not on Trocheck’s 12-team no-trade list. Still, the center prefers to stay on the east coast for personal reasons.
