Daniela Aranguiz married Jorge Valdivia in 2004. Valdivia, one of the best technical professional soccer players in the world, plays for Brazil’s Palmeiras during the regular season. His national team — and his wife’s country of residence — is Chile.
Here’s what you need to know about Daniela Aranguiz and her tumultuous relationship with Valdivia, aka Mago (The Wizard).
1. She Doesn’t Mind Mago’s Cheating
Aranguiz is cool with Valdivia’s infidelity, likely because she cheats too. Aranguiz and Valdivia seem to have a semi-open relationship, but no one’s complaining. Persistent rumors that one or the other isn’t being faithful plague their marriage, but they stay together nonetheless. One of the first major scandals rocked Chilean and Brazilian tabloids as far back as 2010 — and the gossip has persisted ever since. At the beginning of the 2014 World Cup, in fact, Valdivia was accused by an unknown woman of an affair she claimed to have had with him more than two years ago.
2. Aranguiz & Valdivia Were Kidnapped for Ransom
In June 2012, Valdivia and Aranguiz were kidnapped in Sao Paulo. The couple was out shopping one afternoon in one of the city’s ritziest districts and were held at gunpoint for more than $8,000 ransom. Aranguiz later told Valdivia that the suspect had molested her during the ordeal. The incident made both of them consider moving back to Chile — which Aranguiz and the kids later did, leaving Valdivia behind to complete his contract. The word is they’re hoping Valdivia can sign with a European club after the 2014 World Cup.
3. Aranguiz & Valdivia Have 2 Kids
In her Twitter bio she calls herself “madre de u nos angelitos hermanos,” the mother of two angel boys, but the couple is very private about their children and largely keep the kids of the limelight. Gossip talk shows have speculated that the couple wants to have a third child.
4. She Makes A Living as a Model
This isn’t surprising. Like most WAGs, Aranguiz has made several public appearances both on the pages of magazines and on television. She was a “Dance Fever” participant on the show Mekano, a variety and reality show popular in Chile. There was some talk of her brother Riego (Rodrigo Del Real, a well-known Chilean singer, television host and music producer) joining her in a sort of docu-reality program, but it never happened. You can watch some of her modeling prowess by clicking the above video.
5. She Was Accused of Making an XXX Video
In 2012 Aranguiz supposedly made an XXX video that was banned in Chile. It was unclear if she was really in the sex tape, but given the couple’s history of illicit scandals, no one put it past her. Several sources later revealed that the girl in the video was not actually Aranguiz, but Aranguiz herself never explicitly denied her participation.
