Eurythmics singer Annie Lennox’s daughter, Tali Lennox, 22, is safe, after a kayaking accident on the Hudson River. Her boyfriend, Ian Jones, 32, is missing. The couple’s tandem kayak capsized in Dutchess County in Staatsburg, New York. Neither of them were wearing life jackets when they went into the water on the morning of August 8.

1. Authorities Believe Alcohol Played a Role in the Accident

Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Captain John Watterson told the media on August 9 that “We believe that alcohol may have played a role.” In addition, there is a strong current in that part of the river which would have helped to separate the duo, reports the Poughkeepsie Journal. The paper adds that Tali Lennox wasn’t injured and was treated by paramedics at the scene. The search for Jones, which involves the New York State Police has been ongoing since the evening of August 9. In one message of support written on Tali Lennox’s Instagram page, a friend wrote “Sending love and prayers. You do not know me. I started following you threw your mother. My heart and my mothers heart goes out to you. Don’t give up hope.”

In an interview with the Daily Mail on the eve of her first art show in New York City, Tali Lennox commented on why she used people like her boyfriend as models. She said “I like to paint people I know rather than strangers, as I have a deeper understanding of their expressions and what each one means.” That piece added that Lennox and Jones had been dating for several years.


3. Ian Jones’ Modeling Career Is Being Covered Extensively on His Mother’s Facebook Page

Ian Jones, described by the Daily Mail as a “New York photographer,” is also a model, according to his mother, Sherron’s, Facebook page. Most recently, on July 23, she posted pics of Jones modeling for Cerruti with the caption “Killin’ it.” Then, on June 3, she put up photos of Tali Lennox and her son in Maxim writing “Here I go again, bragging on my two baby’s in this months Maxim.” According to his Facebook page, Jones is a Philadelphia native who now lives in New York.


4. Tali Lennox Said Earlier This Year That She Lived a ‘Sheltered Life’

Earlier in 2015, Tali Lennox told the Daily Mail that her life growing up in London as the daughter of Annie Lennox and Israeli film maker Uri Fruchtmann had been “sheltered.” Her parents divorced in 2000, having been married in 1988. The couple have two daughters together, Tali and her older sister, Lola. In 1988, the Annie Lennox gave birth to a stillborn child named Daniel.


5. This Happened Close to Where Vincent Viafore Died in a Kayaking Incident Where His Fiancee Allegedly Tampered With His Boat

This incident happened along the Hudson River, less than 60 miles from where Vincent Viafore was found dead. The New York Times featured the story on May 26, 2015, saying that Viafore’s fiancee, Angelika Graswald told cops that she tampered with his kayak and paddle, causing him to get into difficulty. She also waited for over 30 minutes after he capsized before calling for help. Shorltly after Viafore’s death, Gradwald posted a video of herself doing a cart wheel on Facebook.

Foul play is not suspected in the disappearance of Ian Jones.

They went into the water the morning of Aug. 8. The search began immediately. I was in Rhinebeck and witnessed water search and rescue units rushing to the scene at 11 am that morning.
