A quiet offensive start to Game 6 was made louder by Mike Moustakas’ double that brought Alex Gordon home, giving the Royals the first lead of the game against Jake Peavy. Then with the bases loaded, Nori Aoki slapped an opposite field single to make it 2-0, ending Giants starter Jake Peavy’s night. But while long reliever Yusmeiro Petit has had a breakout postseason, he surrendered a two run single to Lorenzo Cain to increase the Giants’ deficit. Eric Hosmer followed with his second hit in as many innings, a double that was itself followed by a Billy Butler double. All in all the Royals scored seven runs in the second inning.

Yordano Ventura Pitched Lights Out

The Royals needed a starting pitcher to come up big since ace James Shields has lost two games in the series. 23 year old Yordano Ventura stepped up to the occasion, big time. Ventura pitched seven scoreless innings, giving up just three hits and striking out four in a huge performance.

Mike Moustakas’ Home Run Stretched the Lead to Double Digits

The Royals padded their lead out over the rest of the game, including an Alcides Escobar double that played Omar Infante after he ran through the third base coach’s stop signal. Mike Moustakas, who drove in the first run of the game, capped it off with a solo home run in the seventh to make it 10-0, a score that wouldn’t change as Jason Frasor struck out Gregor Blanco to end the game, and force an exciting Game 7 for tomorrow.
