Dealing with sprained ankle
Tryon-Shoyinka sustained a sprained ankle during Sunday's game against the Giants, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports. Tryon-Shoyinka was forced out of the Buccaneers' contest in Week 12 early by an ankle injury, which coach Todd Bowles confirmed Monday to be a sprain. Its severity still hasn't been disclosed at this point, so Tryon-Shoyinka's name will be one to watch for when Tampa Bay releases its first official practice report of the week Wednesday.
Downgraded to out
Tryon-Shoyinka (ankle) has been downgraded to out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Giants. The linebacker suffered the ankle injury in the second quarter and was originally listed as questionable to return. Tryon-Shoyinka made one solo tackle before exiting. Chris Braswell and Anthony Nelson are the next men up at outside linebacker for the Buccaneers.
Leaves game due to ankle injury
Tryon-Shoyinka (ankle) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Giants, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports. Tryon-Shoyinka suffered an ankle injury in the second quarter of Sunday's game. Chris Braswell and Anthony Nelson will pick up additional snaps at outside linebacker for as long as Tryon-Shoyinka is sidelined.
Records sack in win
Tryon-Shoyinka recorded a sack in Tampa Bay's 37-20 win over the Commanders on Sunday. The starting outside linebacker finished with two tackles in total. Tryon-Shoyinka made a career-high 45 tackles, including 5.0 sacks, for the Buccaneers during the 2023 regular season.
Full participant in practice
Tron-Shoyinka (shoulder) practiced in full during Wednesday's session. Tryon-Shoyinka has been dealing with a shoulder sprain since early August, which kept him out of the Bucs' three preseason games. Now that he's healthy, the 2021 first-round pick will serve as Tampa Bay's starting outside linebacker opposite Yaya Diaby. Tryon-Shoyinka finished the 2023 regular season with 45 tackles (28 solo), including a career-high 5.0 sacks, across 17 games.
Dealing with sprain
Tryon-Shoyinka missed Saturday's practice due to a shoulder sprain, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports. Laine adds that the injury is not believed to be serious, so Tryon-Shoyinka could conceivably be back on the practice field following Sunday's team off day. The versatile fourth-year pro did not have his fifth-year option picked up this offseason, so he's facing a pivotal season in which he should once again fill a versatile role that includes pass rushing and dropping into coverage against running backs and tight ends.
Option goes unexercised
Tryon-Shoyinka will not have his fifth-year option picked up by the Buccaneers, Luke Easterling of USA Today reports. Tryon-Shoyinka will now enter the 2024 season in the final year of his rookie contract. Although it hasn't been all bad for the Washington product, he has yet to live up to the expectations of being the team's first-round selection in the 2021 Draft. However, he did post career highs with 45 combined tackles and five sacks last season, despite playing 250 fewer defensive snaps than he did in 2022.
