The Philadelphia Eagles received praise from analysts and NFL insiders on social media for acquiring Green Bay Packers wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks.

Former All-Pro A.J. Brown remains with the Philadelphia Eagles, but the team made a different wide receiver move Friday. According to multiple NFL insiders, the Eagles acquired receiver Dontayvion Wicks from the Green Bay Packers for two Day 3 picks.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport was the first to report the news. The Eagles sent a 2026 fifth-rounder and 2027 sixth-round choice to Green Bay for Wicks.

Rapoport also reported the Eagles agreed to sign Wicks to a 1-year, $12.5 million extension.

Within an hour after the trade, the move received significant praised on social media.

“This is incredible value for the Eagles,” wrote former quarterback and league analyst Kurt Benkert.

“Wicks is one of the most open receivers vs. Man in the league.”

“I really like Wicks as a player,” wrote 94WIP.com’s Eliot Shorr-Parks.

“6-1, 24-years-old, familiar with [Sean] Mannion, impressive numbers in limited snaps.

“Great trade.”

“Makes sense bringing him in to reunite with Sean Mannion,” wrote Locked on Birds host Louie DiBiase.

“You don’t just pay a WR3 or 4 $12.5M,” wrote Eagles writer James Simone. “Also, Wicks was a stud for the Packers behind Romeo Doubs.

“He’s a real serviceable starter.”

“I like this! Wicks has some talent but felt he was always the odd man out in GB,” wrote Eagles analyst Charles Maranan. “A pretty solid dart throw to take by the Eagles.”

Before the trade, Wicks was set to enter the final year of his rookie contract during 2026. In three seasons with the Packers, he posted 108 receptions, 1,328 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns.

Last season, Wicks registered 30 catches, 332 receiving yards and two scores in 14 contests.

During his best statistical campaign in 2023, Wicks posted 39 catches, 581 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

Both the Eagles and Packers deserve praise for the Wicks trade.

Green Bay selected Wicks in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. While he hadn’t made the Pro Bowl and was coming off two consecutive years without at least 500 receiving yards, the Packers recouped the draft capital it took to select Wicks and an extra pick.

In Philadelphia, the Eagles add another quality receiver who be either the team’s WR3 or WR4. That depends on whether the team follows through on the NFL trade rumors surrounding Brown.

If that happens, the Eagles will have DeVonta Smith and Marquise “Hollywood” Brown atop their receiver depth chart, followed by Wicks.

In Wicks, the Eagles landed a receiver new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion is very familiar with from his Packers tenure. With Green Bay, Mannion was an offensive assistant in 2024 and quarterbacks coach during 2025.

Mannion will assume his first offensive coordinator role with Philadelphia next season.

Wicks Trade Sign A.J. Brown Trade Coming?

A.J. Brown

GettyThe Philadelphia Eagles appear to be preparing to trade A.J. Brown this offseason.

Wicks has amassed just 747 receiving yards over his past 31 NFL games. But most pundits see that low output the result of Wicks buried on Green Bay’s depth chart.

That probably won’t be the case in Philadelphia if the Eagles deal Brown.

Wicks became the third receiver the Eagles have added this offseason, potentially in preparation to part with Brown. None of them have the All-Pro talent Brown does, but with Smith set to be the new WR2, Hollywood Brown and Wicks will now fill out the receiver depth chart nicely.

Wicks’s extension is another sign the Eagles are set to deal Brown. The money he received in the new deal is not any amount typically paid to a WR4.

With Wicks, the Eagles are now unlikely to target a receiver in the first round. ESPN’s Jordan Reid reported this week Philadelphia was a candidate to make an aggressive trade up the board for a wideout.

Maybe the Eagles could still take a receiver if it’s terrific value at No. 23 overall. But a trade up for one is now highly unlikely.

Pundits have speculated the Eagles are waiting to trade Brown after June 1.The team will save roughly $27 million against the 2026 salary cap according to Over the Cap if the Eagles trade Brown in June or later.
