The Mets lost by a score of 8-2.
They got swept (and are also in the middle of an eight-game losing streak).
Marcus Semien finished the loss with one hit, one walk, one RBI and one strikeout in three at-bats.
Mets Player Still Owed Over $70 Million

Semien has been struggling this year, batting .194 with one home run, seven RBI’s and two runs in his first 19 games.
He was traded to the Mets (via the Texas Rangers) over the offseason.
The Texas Rangers wrote via X (on November 24, 2025): “We’ve acquired OF Brandon Nimmo and cash considerations from the New York Mets in exchange for 2B Marcus Semien.”
It’s worth noting that the Mets still owe Semien over $70 million, as he is under contract until the end of the 2028 season.
Anthony DiComo of MLB.com wrote (on April 15): “Longest Mets 0-fors this season:
1. Carson Benge, 0-for-24 2. Mark Vientos, 0-for-23* 3. Marcus Semien, 0-for-20 4. Brett Baty, 0-for-17*

This may go without saying, but no other team has had four players with hitless streaks of that length this season.”
Semien’s MLB Career
Semien was picked in the sixth round of the 2011 MLB Draft.
He spent the first two years of his career playing for the Chicago White Sox before six with the Athletics.

The 35-year-old then spent one season with the Toronto Blue Jays, before the last four with the Rangers.
He is a three-time All-Star (and helped the Rangers win the 2023 World Series Championship).
Over 1,648 career games, Semien is batting .253 with 254 home runs, 808 RBI’s, 970 runs and 139 stolen bases.
In addition, he has won two Gold Glove Awards.

The Mets are the last-place team in the National League East with a 7-12 record in 19 games.
They are 4-6 in the ten games they have played away from Citi Field.
On Friday, the Mets will start a new series with the Chicago Cubs (at Wrigley Field).
