Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc may be Ferrari teammates, but when it comes to wedding etiquette, the seven-time world champion is apparently in no rush.
Leclerc married Alexandra Saint Mleux in a private civil ceremony in Monaco on February 28, with a larger celebration planned for next year with close friends and family. The couple were spotted leaving in a vintage 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa — Leclerc in a pale suit, Saint Mleux in a wedding gown — before she confirmed the news by changing her name to Alexandra Leclerc on social media.
It was, by all accounts, a perfect day. The only thing missing? A gift from his teammate.
Ferrari Off to a Flying Start in Australia
The wedding chat came against a promising backdrop for the Scuderia. Leclerc set the fastest time in the opening practice session of the 2026 Australian Grand Prix, with Hamilton making it a Ferrari one-two. Leclerc’s late lap put him 0.469 seconds clear of the field as Formula 1 enters a new era under changed regulations. Max Verstappen finished third, having traded fastest times with Leclerc for much of the session before Ferrari’s final run put both drivers at the top.
On track, things are looking sharp. Off it, Hamilton still has some catching up to do.
Hamilton Comes Clean on the Wedding Present

Speaking at the drivers’ press conference ahead of the Australian Grand Prix, Hamilton was asked what he had given the newlyweds. His answer was characteristically honest.
“I’ve never been married, so I definitely haven’t given him any advice,” Hamilton said. “I haven’t gotten a wedding gift yet. I usually delay myself when it comes to gifts like that, so maybe six months in I’ll give it to him.”
Six months. Not exactly the quickest turnaround, but Hamilton has never claimed to be a gifting expert.
Leclerc’s Response to Hamilton Was Perfect

When Leclerc was asked in a separate media session whether he had any requests for Hamilton, the Monegasque driver did not miss a beat.
“Well in six months time it will be the end of the season, so probably a title will be nice,” Leclerc said with a smile. “But I’m not sure he will be willing to give me a title. So yeah, whatever it is.”
It was a sharp line. One that carried more than a little truth underneath the humor. Leclerc has been chasing his first Formula 1 world championship throughout his Ferrari career. Now Hamilton is his teammate rather than a rival at Mercedes. The dynamic at the Scuderia is one of the most fascinating storylines of 2026.
Leclerc was quick to add some genuine sentiment to the moment, though.
“It’s a very important moment of my life,” he said. “We spoke about it briefly with Lewis, and it’s those moments that are outside of racing, but that will remain one of the most important moments of my life. It was really nice.”
Final Word
Hamilton will get around to the gift eventually. Six months, he says. By then, the Formula 1 season will be nearing its conclusion and Leclerc’s title push will either be alive or over.
If it is the latter, perhaps Hamilton can at least wrap something up nicely.
Leclerc already knows what he wants.
