Zelda fans, we certainly feel your pain.
The wait for Breath of the Wild has sent people into a state of madness. Come March 3, Nintendo’s dedicated fanbase will get to experience their newest console and get their hands on an open-world Legend of Zelda adventure. The early impressions have been overwhelmingly positive, so we’re pretty sure early Switch owners will get a bonafide GOTY candidate on day one. We’re sure you all want to celebrate the release of one of Nintendo’s most anticipated games in recent memory. The best way to do that is by checking out all the additional goodies associated with it.
We’ve collected the best collectibles that longtime Zelda fans will appreciate and flaunt with pride.
1. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Special/Master Edition
Since this is the biggest Nintendo Switch launch game, its been given the royal treatment in the form of two Collector’s Editions. The 1st one of its kind is the Special Edition, which includes a physical copy of Breath of the Wild, a 24-song filled soundtrack, a full sized map of the in-game world, a console carrying case adorned with the Sheikah Eye design and a collectible coin featuring the very same marking. All of this comes packaged within a pretty nifty box with some art inspired by the game.
Now when we’re talking about the Master Edition, it goes the full nine yards with its extra bonus statue. Everything that’s already been mentioned regarding the Special Edition comes with this upgraded package set. Not only does it come in an even prettier box, it delivers the trademark Master Sword in statuette form. Only the most dedicated of Legend of Zelda fans will want to add one of these Collector’s Editions to their nerd vault.
2. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Expansion Pass
Breath of the Wild is already huge enough. But Nintendo knows that Zelda fans want more and need more, especially when it comes to a release that’s been highly anticipated. The game’s producer Eiji Aonuma has already given the OK on the upcoming DLC, so we know its overall quality will be high. The game’s Season Pass is offering up a host of content that will release in the Summer and Holiday season – the “Cave of Trials” challenge, Hard Mode, a new mechanic involving the in-game map, a new dungeon and extra story content. On top of all that comes chests that include an in-game Nintendo Switch shirt for Link and even more exclusive goodies.
3. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: The Complete Official Guide Collector’s Edition
We know some folks like to go it alone on their legendary treks through Hyrule and beyond. But Breath of the Wild is a different beast altogether, so you’re going to have to swallow your pride and get some much needed assistance. The most helpful tome for Link’s latest adventure is The Complete Official Guide Collector’s Edition. Its pages are filled with all the integral info you need to survive and make your way through every dungeon, puzzle and boss fight. Each and every side quest is covered in detail, winning strategies for battles are included and there’s a reference guide inside that speaks on every item/baddie you’ll come across. And of course, it comes with a map of the entire in-game world. This strategy guide breaks Breath of the Wild down in the most comprehensive way possible.
4. Nintendo amiibo-Link (Archer): Breath of the Wild
Nintendo went all out for their next line of Amiibo figurines. Breath of the Wild has gotten a few dedicated to its standout heroes and villains. Link himself has two Amiibo figures dedicated to him. The one we’re about to detail is Link’s Archer form, where he can be seen readying a carefully aimed shot from his bow & arrow armament. So of course, this Amiibo will gift you with some in-game bonus items. Link’s Archer form ends up producing extra pieces of in-game fish and meat, plus its rumored to also gift Link with another bow & arrow set.
5. Nintendo amiibo-Zelda: Breath of the Wild
The main female protagonist of the ongoing series that actually features her name has an Amiibo? Uh, yeah? Why wouldn’t she have one? Zelda’s been given the Amiibo treatment before, so it was easy to see that she’d be getting another one based on her Breath of the Wild appearance. She stands tall and looks to be on the verge of discovering some far off place that Link must soon traverse. Luckily, her Amiibo statue assists Link by providing him with plants for him to use and a new shield to wield in battle.
6. Nintendo amiibo-Link (Rider): Breath of the Wild
Now this Link Amiibo reflects his “ready to head into battle” mode as he rides his trusty steed. It surely gives us a flashback to the form we saw him showcase during the very 1st teaser for the game. Link adorns his hooded gear and gets ready to ride off into the sunset for another dangerous trek. This Amiibo’s bonuses come in the form of additional mushrooms, a new weapon and possibly a new item specifically for your horse.
7. Nintendo amiibo-Guardian: Breath of the Wild
Breath of the Wild’s mysterious Guardians are definitely the most imposing enemies in the game. Some of them may not come with all their limbs or powers intact, but they’re still a threat that will take all of Link’s abilities to soundly defeat. The Guardian Amiibo pictured above is massive and gives a proper representation of how some of them will appear in-game. So what rewards come with this bigger than usual Amiibo figurine? Special metal chests that come with a host of mysterious gear, which happens to include “ancient parts.”
8. Nintendo amiibo-Bokoblin: Breath of the Wild
The Bokoblin enemy type have returned from The Wind Waker to take a new form in Breath of the Wild. They’re usually armed with a club of some kind that they use to deplete Link’s heart supply. If you’re looking to obtain a club of your own early on, then the Bokoblin Amiibo figure can make that happen. Plus it also gifts Link with some more meat, which is needed to fill the young hero’s stomach and get him energized enough for his next harrowing task.
