On Sunday, the New York Yankees will host the Baltimore Orioles in the Bronx.

They have won each of the first two games.

A lot of eyes will also be on the team’s decision regarding Anthony Volpe.

Chris Kirschner of The Athletic wrote (on May 1): “Volpe’s 20-day clock for his rehab assignment expires on Sunday. He will either have to be activated on Monday or be optioned.”

Ahead of Sunday’s game, manager Aaron Boone was asked for the latest on Volpe (h/t SNY’s Yankees Videos).

Reporter: “Aaron, has there been a decision made on Anthony Volpe yet?”

Boone: “No, we’ll get through today and talk through that.”

Reporter: “Ultimately, what will be the deciding factor in that decision?”

Boone: “Just wanting to do what’s best for the team, for Anthony, so we’ll have those conversations.”

Volpe finished last season batting .212 with 19 home runs, 72 RBI’s, 65 runs and 18 stolen bases in 153 games.

Here’s what people were saying on social media:

@01Spidey01: “I hope the only decision they reach is that he won’t be with the Yankees anymore.”

@Leo_NYY: “Hopefully cabby goes off today then 🙏🏽 not that I don’t want volpe, but him being down in the minors can help him a lot.”

@jarret_austin: “i think they finally realized that cabby is a better choice at SS offensively and defensively.”

@JMC9787: “He is gonna stay in the minors. There’s no downside. He gets to work on his game and hopefully become a better player. And they’ll also gain an extra year of control before he becomes a free agent. The team is playing well. Caballero is playing well. Don’t upset the apple cart.”
