The Minnesota Vikings could still use a more capable third wide receiver on their depth chart. This weekend, Vikings Territory’s Dustin Baker presented a new trade scenario Minnesota could pursue for wideout Jerry Jeudy.
Baker proposed the Vikings potentially offer a fifth or sixth-round pick to the Cleveland Browns for Jeudy.
“Jeudy is slated to earn just over $10 million in 2026, a figure that appears to be a bargain for a receiver of his caliber. The primary concern is Cleveland’s persistent struggle to maximize his talent,” wrote Baker.
“Minnesota, however, presents a compelling alternative. Imagine Jeudy integrated into an offense alongside their quarterback, Justin Jefferson, and Jordan Addison. The resulting defensive spacing would be a nightmare for opponents. Minnesota is tailor-made for elite route runners, a role Jeudy excels in.
“If Cleveland is open to a trade, Minnesota should pursue the opportunity aggressively.”
With the struggling Browns quarterback situation last season, Jeudy posted 50 catches, 602 receiving yards and two touchdowns in 2025. The season prior, though, Jeudy led the Browns with 90 receptions and 1,229 receiving yards.
Both of those totals were career highs for the 27-year-old wideout. Behind the statistics, Jeudy earned a Pro Bowl nomination.
Jeudy began his career with the Denver Broncos. He eclipsed the 750-receiving yards mark three times in four seasons with the club.
The receiver has already been traded once in his career. The Broncos dealt Jeudy to the Browns two years ago.
After the trade, Jeudy signed a 3-year, $52.5 million contract in Cleveland.
NFL Trade Proposal Ships Vikings WR Jerry Jeudy
Pundits continue to mention the Vikings as a potential suitor for veteran wideouts because of the team’s lack of proven options behind Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison.
Jefferson and Addison form one of the top duos at wideout in the league. But as of May 3, 2025 third-round pick Tai Felton is the team’s WR3.
That’s a positive for Felton’s potential development. He’s set to get a lot of opportunities this season.
But Felton only caught three passes in 17 games as a rookie. He also had 25 receiving yards.
Jeudy would obviously give the Vikings a much more proven third receiver option.
The veteran wideout is under contract for through the 2027 campaign. Next season, Jeudy will have a $13.47 million cap hit. That’s manageable, and only an increase from the $10.37 million cap hit he is scheduled to have in 2026.
Vikings WR Depth Entering 2026 Rookie Minicamp
Felton is one of many unproven options the Vikings possess at receiver this offseason.
Myles Price, Jeshaun Jones, Dontae Fleming and Joaquin Davis are the other four wideouts with NFL experience Minnesota has on the roster. The Vikings also signed Dillon Bell, Shaleak Knotts, Marcus Sanders Jr. and Luke Wysong in undrafted free agency.
Despite having nine selections, the Vikings didn’t add a receiver in the 2026 NFL Draft. The team got significant criticism for that draft decision.
Early in the draft, the Vikings focused primarily on defense. Minnesota added a defensive prospect with four of its five picks on the first two days.
On Day 3, the Vikings picked a running back, fullback and center to address offensive needs.
The Vikings will hold their rookie minicamp from May 8-9. At that time, the team will have a chance to see what the undrafted rookies might be able to add at receiver.
If it’s not sufficient depth, though, it would make sense for the Vikings to see if Jeudy is potentially available.
