The Rockies reassigned Stevens to minor-league camp Sunday. Stevens is expected to open the season at Triple-A Albuquerque after he was unable to win a bench role with the Rockies coming out of spring training. The 27-year-old made his big-league debut with the Angels in 2025, appearing in five games while going 2-for-13 at the dish.

Chad Stevens: Breaking News
Latches on with Rockies
The Rockies signed Stevens to a minor-league contract Dec. 9. Stevens reached the big leagues for the first time in 2025, going 2-for-13 at the plate during a five-game cup of coffee with the Angels. Slated to turn 27 in February, Stevens had a strong .290/.375/.480 batting line at Triple-A Salt Lake in 2025 and is capable of playing all four infield positions as well as the outfield corners.
Remains in organization
The Angels outrighted Stevens to Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday. He's no longer on the 40-man roster but will remain in the organization. Stevens had a cup of coffee with the Angels earlier this season but has spent most of the season with Salt Lake, where he's slashed .288/.369/.489 with 18 homers and 20 steals.
