October 30 Primetime Special Marks UFC’s Official Debut on FOX

One-hour program will piggyback NFL on FOX broadcast

Two weeks prior to the first UFC fights hitting network television airwaves, the organization will debut on FOX with a one-hour version of Primetime.

Traditionally consisting of three, one-hour weekly episodes geared to building anticipation for an upcoming fight, the UFC will instead deliver a condensed version of the special on Sunday, October 30 to promote their November 12 debut on the network.

Only one bout has been announced for the debut event on FOX, a featherweight contest between Dustin Poirier and Pablo Garza expected to be slotted for the preliminary portion of the card. While there has been plenty of speculation and opinions cast about who could, should or would meet in the two bout to air on the one-hour “bonus event,” UFC President Dana White has yet to announce who we’ll see when the company makes their way to network TV for the first time.

What is known for sure is that UFC 134 headliner and middleweight champion Anderson Silva will not be featured on the event, which will be held at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. White said rumors of a potential second meeting with Chael Sonnen were false and that Silva will not be competing on the November fight card.
