Cameroon vs. Croatia: Score, Recap & Highlights

Cameroon fans, Cameroon vs. Croatia, World Cup Group A

Final Score: Croatia 4, Cameroon 0

Cameroon went crashing out of the World Cup with display so bereft of passion, it made Spain look good. Going into the game, the Indomitable Lions knew that a loss would end their World Cup dream. They didn’t seem to care. The Cameroon team were outplayed, outthought and outfought by Croatia who also knew they had to win the game. Aside for the few minutes, Croatia was never troubled. This makes the Mexico/Croatia next Monday a winner-take-all clash.

Here’s how it went down:

Ivica Olic Gives Croatia a 1-0 Lead

After just over ten minutes Croatia took the lead. Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic played a beautiful ball across the Cameroon box, after he dragged in a few defenders, leaving the veteran with an easy tap-in. You can watch the goal above, note to Sergio Busquets, that’s how you score a tap in.

Olic missed another good chance a few minutes later:

Who scored for Croatia

Alex Song Was Sent Off in the First Half

For the second time in his World Cup career, Barcelona and Cameroon midfielder Alex Song has been red carded. The midfielder his Croatia striker Mario Mandzukic in the back as the two were chasing the ball. Crazy moment from Song. Watch the incident above. Crazy when you consider who Alex Song’s cousin is.

Perisic Made it 2 Just After the Half

A darting run down the left wing from Ivan Perisic saw him get into the box and fire into Itandje’s near post.

Croatia second goal perisic

It looks as though Cameroon are going to be eliminated from the World Cup, following other such failures as the Spanish team. The Cameroon coach Volker Finke looked pretty dejected after the goal, nearly impossible to see Cameroon getting back into this one.

Mario Mandzukic Made it 3

Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic made it 3-0 to Croatia after 62 minutes. The Cameroon defense seemed to decide they didn’t want defend against the corner and Super Mario (not that one) had an easy finish.

After 73 Minutes, it Became a Massacre

Mario Mandzukic got another easy tap-in after he puts a rebound into an empty net. The ball came off Itandje into the path of the Croatian striker. The entire Cameroon defense seemed to stop playing and just hope Mandzukic was offside. He wasn’t and it was 4-0.

Cameroon and Croatia are both coming off losses in their World Cup openers, and both need a win to have any hope of advancing out of Group A in the World Cup when they play tonight.
