Two donkeys in a Poznan, Poland, zoo who were separated for their acts of lovemaking have been reunited after public outcry.

Napoleon and Antosia, who have been together for 10 years, were recently separated after a prude Polish politician named Lydia Dudziak witnessed the two fornicating while she and her children looked on. Dudziak was unable to cope with such natural sights, much less explain them to her children, so she persuaded the zoo director to have the animals placed in separate pens.

The act immediately incited the ire of the public, who petitioned the zoo via Facebook to reunite the pair. Two fan pages devoted to the donkeys’ reunion clocked nearly 10,000 likes.

Other petitions appeared on sites like thepetitionsite.com.

Local politicians also weighed in. The Huffington Post reports:

“Animals separated by sex into different cages? It’s complete idiocy,” said Stefan Niesiolowski, a lawmaker with the governing party, Civic Platform.

Even the spokesman for Law and Justice, the conservative party that Dudziak belongs to, would not come to her defense.

“It’s a level of absurdity … that has been crossed to such an extent that I don’t even want to read or know about this,” Adam Hofman said Wednesday evening.

We’re glad that the loving pair is back together.
