Stephanie Moseley of VH1’s “Hit the Floor” and Earl Hayes from Floyd Mayweather’s entourage are dead after an apparent murder-suicide. The shooting happened in Los Angeles just after 7 a.m. on December 8.

Here’s what you need to know:

1. Floyd Mayweather Was Reportedly Facetiming With Hayes When the Whole Thing Went Down

Floyd Mayweather had been facetiming with Earl Hayes, 34, just prior to the shooting, reports TMZ. The site also says that the facetiming remained on while Hayes shot and killed his wife. Exactly how much Mayweather saw is unknown but TMZ says that the boxer was pleading with Hayes to calm down as his protege ranted about his cheating wife.

2. He Accused Her of Cheating on Him With a ‘Famous Singer’


The couple were married in 2008. TMZ, quoting a source says Hayes thought Moseley, 30, was cheating on him with a “famous singer.” Speaking to KTLA, Hayes’ life coach, Burrel Wilks, said the couple were in the process of breaking up. Wilks later told NBC Los Angeles:

I’ve had sit downs with both of them so whatever happened behind those doors we’ll never know, but I heard out of her own mouth, he never raised a hand on her so this is kind of stunning.



3. Neighbors Heard a Woman Screaming Before the Shots Were Fired

TMZ goes on to report that the shooting happened early on the morning of December 8 at a swanky Los Angeles apartment block called The Grove, located at West 3rd Street in the 6000 block. KTLA reports that after shots were fired at the apartment complex, a full LAPD SWAT team responded. After cops entered the couple’s apartment, the bodies of Moseley and Hayes were found. Both had been shot. It’s unclear who shot who. CBS Los Angeles reports that neighbors heard a woman scream from inside the apartment.

4. Moseley Had Danced With Britney Spears, Beyonce & Janet Jackson

Moseley was the star of VH1’s dance show “Hit the Floor.” The drama show follows a group of girls who are NBA cheerleaders. According to her official website, Moseley says that she worked for Britney Spears, Beyonce and Janet Jackson as a backup dancer. Her bio adds that she is a native of Vancouver and that she regarded herself as an “artist” rather than an “actress.” When she joined VH1 in 2013, she spoke of the positive atmosphere at the show:

Everybody works out, everybody’s focused, everybody wants to do better, everybody wants to be harder. It’s like this morale and this energy between all of us that is magical.

On her talent agency website Moseley says that working for Janet Jackson was her favorite job and JLo is her “inspiration.” In January 2014, her best friend’s boyfriend, Atlanta DJ William Fernando Barnes, was gunned down outside of his home in Georgia.

5. Hayes Was Part of Mayweather’s Entourage

Earl Hayes had been an aspiring rapper and friend of Floyd Mayweather’s. According to IMDB, Hayes and Moseley were featured in the Mayweather documentary 30 Days in May. You can watch a video of Hayes rapping over a Floyd Mayweather Showtime commercial above.
