This morning, the Orlando community continues to mourn the loss of at least 50 people during a mass shooting at the gay nightclub Pulse. On its front page, the Orlando Sentinel tells the community that it will heal in the face of the tragedy.
“Let our community define itself by our unequivocal response: United,” reads a statement from the paper. The front page features an editorial, in which the Sentinel’s editors declare, “We will not — we must not — let Sunday’s heinous act of brutality and cowardice define our community.” The editorial remembers the victims and the heroes of yesterday, from the police who arrived on the scene to the people who stood in line to donate blood.
The Tampa Bay Times went a different route with its front page. “The WORST Mass Shooting In U.S. History,” the headline reads, with a picture of people carrying a victim. The image shows Chris Hansen, who spoke with The Today Show this morning.
