Gavin Long’s Twitter: Tweets From Cosmo Setenpra

Baton Rouge cop killer Gavin Long attacked officers on his 29th birthday. NBC News' Pete Williams reports that authorities are investigating the possibility that Long co-ordinated with other people from Missouri to lure the officers to the location of the shooting. CBS News reports that Long was born in Kansas City. He was dressed in black fatigues and was armed with an assault rifle.

Long was extremely active on Twitter, posting inspirational and political messages on a daily basis. He went by the moniker @ConvosWithCosmo on the social media site. An apparent reference to his alias, Cosmo Setepenra. On his bio, Long writes that he's a "◼Freedom Strategist ◼Radio Host ◼Mental Game Coach ◼Alpha Preneur ◼Author ◼World Explorer ◼Former Marine. ▲☥Ethiopian Bloodline☥▲." He talks on the site about his writings, his trips to Africa and his views on racism in America.

The wounded cops were "lured" into a building by shooters, reports WDSU's Jennifer Crockett. The FBI's New Orleans Division are responding to the scene in Baton Rouge along with the ATF. In a statement, President Obama, condemned the killings saying in part, "For the second time in two weeks, police officers who put their lives on the line for ours every day were doing their job when they were killed in a cowardly and reprehensible assault. These are attacks on public servants, on the rule of law, and on civilized society, and they have to stop." The president also paid tribute to the fallen saying, "Today, on the Lord’s day, all of us stand united in prayer with the people of Baton Rouge, with the police officers who’ve been wounded, and with the grieving families of the fallen. May God bless them all."

According to a statement from the Louisiana State Police, the wounded officers are members of the Baton Rouge Police Department and the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's deputies. Two of the dead officers were Baton Rouge cops while on was an East Baton Rouge Sheriff's deputy. The Baton Rouge Advocate reports that the suspect who was killed was a Missouri man while two other men are being questioned as persons of interest. The weapon used by Long in the shootings was an assault rifle.
