Senior wide receiver Germie Bernard has been the Alabama Crimson Tide’s most reliable weapon this season. He has found his way into the end zone four times and each and every time the celebration has been the exact same.
The 21-year-old from Las Vegas drops to both knees, looks up to the sky, and with a huge smile he spreads both arms open to the Heavens.

Bernard did an interview on Monday on The Next Round Live where he elaborated on his touchdown celebration.
“When I score and I do that, I’m letting everybody know that I’m saying that God gets all the glory for this,” Bernard said. “He’s giving me strength to come out here and play this game of football. He’s giving me the strength to go out here and catch these touchdowns and whatnot. So. I’m just giving him glory, like in those moments. I just want everybody else to see that God is working through me.”
Faith Plays A Major Role In Germie Bernard’s Life
Over the summer, Bernard sat down with the same show to speak on the role that his faith plays in his life and football career.
“Right now, I’m in the book of Matthew,” Bernard said. “I just pray to God each week, whatever comes to You and You want me to be able to show others and lead others to You, please put that on my heart. I think He does that a lot of the time, and I’m so grateful to have that relationship with Him that I can do that.”
“I just want people to know that God is a faithful God, and if you are obedient to his word and what he wants you to do with your life, you’re going to be blessed. So I just pray each week and hope and have faith that he’s going to be able to give me the right words to be able to express to somebody else because somebody else does need that,” he added.
Bernard May Be First Receiver Drafted
Super star wide receiver Ryan Williams was the talk of the town coming into the 2025 college football season. From being the cover athlete on the college football video game, no multi-million dollar NIL deals with Nike and Beats By Dre. However, it is senior Germie Bernard who has dominated the first quarter of the season.
In the first game of the season, on a day where seemingly the entire team struggled, Bernard recorded a team high 146 yards on eight catches. In Week 2, two of his three catches resulted in touchdowns. Fast forward to this past Saturday, Bernard diversified his portfolio adding two more touchdowns including his first rushing score of the season.
He leads the team in receptions, yards, and touchdowns. Now an ESPN draft expert predicts that the senior could be the first receiver taken in next April’s NFL Draft.
“The WR1 race is very wide open, and Alabama’s Germie Bernard is emerging in the mix,” ESPN’s Matt Miller writes. “He has been the best thing about Alabama football so far this season. Scouts had him with a fringe Round 1-2 grade over the summer. But to me, he’s right in the WR1 convo with (Arizona State’s Jordyn) Tyson…”
Miller goes on to compare Bernard’s game to the 19th pick in last year’s NFL draft, Ohio State’s Emeka Egbuka.
(Bernard) has a game very similar to Emeka Egbuka as a college receiver.” Miller continued. “At 6-foot-1 and 204 pounds, he is already a high-end route runner with good physicality and strength. Bernard had two scores in Saturday’s blowout win over Wisconsin — one on the ground and another through the air.”
