Minnesota Timberwolves star center Rudy Gobert probably won’t want to hear this.
According to his peers, Gobert is the second-most overrated player in the entire NBA.

Gobert was recently voted as the second-most overrated player in the entire NBA by other players in an anonymous poll from The Athletic.
81 total players voted in the poll and Gobert received 8.6 percent of the vote, which was tied with Washington Wizards guard for the second-most. Houston Rockets star center Alpren Sengun was voted as the league’s most overrated player with 12.3 percent of the vote.
Other players to receive multiple votes include Karl-Anthony Towns, Paolo Banchero, Ja Morant, Scottie Barnes, Deni Avdija, Luka Doncic, Pascal Siakam and Dillon Brooks, among others.
From The Athletic:
The second-place finishers this year, Rudy Gobert of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Trae Young of the Washington Wizards, are regulars in this category. Young finished first in 2023, and Gobert finished first in 2024. While Young is coming off an injury-riddled season (he played in just 15 games), Gobert was the anchor of a Timberwolves defense that finished the regular season eighth in defensive rating. Gobert averaged 10.9 points, 11.5 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game, and he placed fourth in the Defensive Player of the Year voting, which is done by a panel of 100 writers and broadcasters.
Regardless of how he’s viewed by his peers, Gobert’s impact on the game is undeniable. He’s a four-time Defensive Player of the Year award winner and a three-time All-Star. Those accolades don’t just happen by accident.
Rudy Gobert is no Stranger to Feeling Disrespected

Gobert is no stranger to being labeled as overrated, as it was just two years ago that he was voted the league’s most overrated player in the very same poll.
A recent quote from Gobert about feeling disrespected after he finished fourth in Defensive Player of the Year voting for the 2025-26 season is probably applicable here.
“Not the first time I’ve been disrespected. Probably not the last,” Gobert said last month. “If you want to disrespect greatness, take it for granted. Whatever, soon they’ll realize the impact.”
