The Milwaukee Brewers announced a couple of injury updates regarding their bullpen. Both right-hander Abner Uribe and left-hander Jojo Romero are expected to pitch with High-A Wisconsin on August 25, as announced by the Timber Rattlers.
Uribe, 26, has been a key part of the Brewers bullpen since the 2025 season. Over that stretch, he has a 1.82 ERA over 124 appearances. He serves as the primary setup man to closer Trevor Megill, pitching to a 2.05 ERA in 49 outings.
The right-hander is dealing with a mild flexor strain. It’s not expected to keep him on the injured list beyond the 15-day minimum. He’s eligible to return as early as August 26.
Romero, 29, has yet to pitch for the Brewers. He came with starting pitcher Dustin May in a deadline deal with the St. Louis Cardinals for outfield prospects Alexander Frias and Josiah Ragsdale.
The left-hander’s injury came while he was with the Cardinals. He underwent an emergency appendectomy before the trade. Romero has a 3.35 ERA and a 23.1% strikeout rate across 44 appearances in St. Louis.

Getting both Abner Uribe and Jojo Romero back is huge for the Brewers. They currently hold the best record in MLB at 81-50. They hold a six-game lead in the National League Central over the Chicago Cubs.
For the Brewers, it’s about getting all their players healthy and ready for the postseason. Both Uribe and Romero should be back on the roster during their next homestand, which will begin after a quick three-game road set in New York. They’ll return to American Family Field on August 28 to take on the Texas Rangers.
Uribe will likely resume his eighth-inning role in the bullpen. The right-hander features a heavy sinker that sits in the upper-90s and a devastating slider that moves in the opposite direction. He and Trevor Megill have shut down opposing lineups at the end of games.
Romero will likely be the Brewers’ No. 2 left-hander in the bullpen behind Aaron Ashby. The club currently has Ashby and DL Hall as the only lefties in their bullpen. Another left-hander, Shane Drohan, is expected to move to the pen soon, as Milwaukee stays cognizant of his 2026 workload.
The National League has turned into a bit of an arms race. The Dodgers remain the team to beat, with back-to-back championships, and the Brewers are hoping to be the team that dethrones them. Getting Uribe and Romero back and situated plays a big part in that.
The Brewers will have to make a couple of roster moves to get the two relievers back on the roster.
