Megill struck out one in a perfect sixth inning Tuesday to record his second hold of the season in a 12-4 win over the Tigers. The Brewers were ahead 3-1 when the right-hander took the mound, but it was still far from the ninth-inning usage Megill is used to seeing. His performance was encouraging, as he fired 10 of 14 pitches for strikes, but his 9.00 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 10:4 K:BB through eight innings on the season remain sketchy. For now, Abner Uribe appears to be the top closing option for manager Pat Murphy, at least until Megill puts together a sustained run of success.

Trevor Megill: Breaking News
Earns fourth save
Megill earned the save in Friday's 7-5 extra-inning win over the Marlins, allowing one unearned run on one hit while striking out two in the 10th inning. Megill was tasked with protecting a three-run lead in the bottom of the 10th inning and did so despite allowing a run to score on a wild pitch. After yielding seven earned runs across consecutive appearances April 10 and 14, he's now picked up a hold and a save in back-to-back solid outings. Angel Zerpa and Abner Uribe, who earned the team's previous two saves, worked the eighth and ninth innings in that order Friday, so Megill's outlook as the team's closer remains murky for now.
Another poor outing
Megill blew his save chance during Tuesday's 9-7 extra-inning loss to Toronto. He allowed three runs on three hits and one walk over one inning. He did not strike out a batter. The last time Megill took the mound was his disastrous outing against the Nationals on Friday, when he took the loss after yielding four runs on two hits without recording an out. Things weren't much better Tuesday for the veteran right-hander, who avoided the loss only after the Brewers tied things up at 6-6 in the bottom of the frame. After giving up one run through his first four outings of the season, Megill has yielded seven runs over his last two appearances, which has him at a preposterous 14.40 ERA and 2.40 WHIP over five innings. His recent performances may force Brewers manager Pat Murphy to turn to different options out of the bullpen for save opportunities, though Angel Zerpa is the only Milwaukee pitcher other than Megill to have logged a save in 2026.
