The Minnesota Twins are set to open a new series in MLB this weekend against the San Diego Padres.
Minnesota carries a record of 63-65 and is just 3.5 games behind the Chicago White Sox in the AL Central with about 30+ games left to go in the regular season.
In a low-key roster move on Friday afternoon, the Twins have announced they have released a player from their organization in an under-the-radar transaction.

Minnesota Twins Released William Fleming
According to his transactions tracker, the Minnesota Twins have released 27-year-old pitcher William Fleming from their organization. He had been playing for the Wichita Wind Surge:
“Wichita Wind Surge released RHP William Fleming.”
Wichita is the AA affiliate of the Minnesota Twins.
In 2026, Fleming has pitched 39.2 innings and carries an ERA of 6.12 with 31 strikeouts.
He has spent brief periods of time in both 2024 and 2025 in AAA with different organizations, but his underlying numbers have not been very promising.
However, with that being said, Fleming should have no issues finding a new opportunity given his youth… if he chooses to continue playing baseball.
The Seattle Mariners drafted him in the 11th round of the 2021 MLB draft, and he had two different stints within the Seattle organization.

More on William Fleming
William Fleming has pitched a total of 456 innings in the minors over six seasons.
Across that time span, he carries an ERA of 5.53 with 360 strikeouts.
If you look at Fleming’s Baseball-Reference.com page, his career follows a clear trend. He pitches extremely well in the lower levels of the minors, and then things get much tougher as he gets promoted to levels such as AA and AAA, which is common but can usually be the demise of a player.

The Twins have quietly stayed afloat this entire MLB season, especially when a lot of people predicted they would not even be in playoff contention.
As of August 21, the Twins are in control of the third AL Wild Card spot, but the Texas Rangers carry the same record.
Going forward, every game on the Twins’ schedule becomes increasingly more important.
