The Atlanta Braves, after winning on Thursday afternoon against the Chicago White Sox, are set to take on the Milwaukee Brewers in a crucial weekend series, which will culminate in a Little League Classic showdown on Sunday evening.
Before the Brewers series began, the Braves made a notable promotion in their minor league system, which may not grab headlines, but is certainly a big move for 26-year-old player David McCabe.

Looking down on the Atlanta Braves farm, infielder David McCabe is being promoted to AAA Gwinnett, according to his MiLB.com transactions tracker:
“3B David McCabe assigned to Gwinnett Stripers from Columbus Clingstones.”
The 26-year-old third baseman has since been activated by Gwinnett and will likely be in the team’s starting lineup for tonight’s game against the Durham Bulls (AAA).
In 2026, he’s batted .282 in 53 games with AA Columbus, with 16 home runs, eight doubles, and an OPS of .962.
He played 28 games with Triple-A Gwinnett last season and batted .235 in 98 at-bats.

More on David McCabe…
The Atlanta Braves drafted David McCabe in the fourth round of the 2022 MLB draft, and he’s been with the organization ever since.
He’s from Oshawa, Ontario in Canada.
McCabe has played in 373 total games in the minors over five seasons. He’s batted .262 with 50 home runs, 67 doubles, and 223 RBI in 1318 total minor-league ABs.
Being in Triple-A again will give McCabe a good opportunity to keep showing the Braves organization that he can hit the tougher pitching at the higher levels.
Looking at the Braves big-league squad right now, their next two series are huge for seeding purposes, as they are taking on the Brewers on the road, and then the Los Angeles Dodgers come into town early next week.
