Lindor went 2-for-3 with two walks and an RBI in Sunday's loss to the Rockies. The veteran shortstop heads into the All-Star break on a tear. Lindor got on base 10 times in 15 plate appearances during the three-game series against Colorado, and over his last 25 contests he's slashing .314/.397/.549 with nine doubles, five homers, seven steals, 18 RBI and 20 runs.
Alonso went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's loss to the Rockies. He got the Mets on the board in the fourth inning by crushing a German Marquez two-seamer deep to left field. Alonso snapped an 11-game homer drought with the blast, and he heads into the All-Star break -- and an appearance in the Home Run Derby -- slashing .240/.319/.454 with 19 homers and 51 RBI in 95 contests.
Quintana (4-6) took the loss Sunday against the Rockies, allowing five runs on six hits and a walk across 5.2 innings. He struck out eight. Quintana surrendered four home runs Sunday, the most he's allowed in a start in his career. Luckily for the left-hander, three of the long balls occurred with no runners on base, with Ezequiel Tovar's two-run homer in the first inning being the only non-solo shot. The outing was Quintana's first real hiccup in a month, as he racked up a 0.89 ERA and 27 strikeouts across his last five starts (30.1 innings) and had thrown 14 consecutive scoreless innings leading up to Sunday's start. Quintana enters the All-Star break with a 3.91 ERA with a 71:33 K:BB across 96.2 innings.
Mauricio (knee) was cleared to begin running and hitting in late May, MLB.com reports. Mauricio opened the season on the 60-day injured list after he tore the ACL in his right knee in December while playing in the Dominican Winter League. He underwent surgery in January and is facing a projected recovery timeline of 8-to-12 months, leaving the door open for the 23-year-old infielder to return from the IL in September. While Mets vice president of player development Andy Green said May 31 that "everything is progressing as it should" with regard to Mauricio's recovery, the organization won't have a clear idea on whether he'll be able to return from the IL in 2024 until later in the summer.
Senga (shoulder) struck out three while allowing one earned run on two hits and two walks over 4.2 innings in his rehab start Sunday with Triple-A Syracuse. Senga tossed 67 pitches (41 strikes) in his third rehab outing, and he's now compiled an 0.90 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 12:4 K:BB in 10 innings between Syracuse and High-A Brooklyn. According to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza has said that club officials will determine the next steps for Senga over the All-Star break. Based on how he's fared during his rehab assignment, Senga looks ready to return from the 60-day injured list, but the Mets may still want him to build up to the 75-to-80 pitch range in another rehab start before he rejoins the big-league rotation.
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Sunday that Marte is without a timeline for a return from the 10-day injured list while his recovery from a bone bruise in his right knee remains "slow still," Tim Healey of Newsday reports. Nearly three weeks removed from landing on the IL on June 25, Marte is still dealing with pain in his knee and hasn't yet been cleared to resume baseball activities. The Mets had been hoping that Marte would be ready to come off the IL in around four weeks in a best-case scenario, but based on where he currently stands in his recovery, it's apparent that he'll need more time to heal up. On a positive note, Marte has been able to work out in the weight room while he's been sidelined, but a clearer target date for his return from the IL won't emerge until he's able to take part in hitting, running and fielding drills.
Lindor went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run, a stolen base and two walks Saturday in a 7-3 win against Colorado. New York was hanging onto a one-run lead in the bottom of the eighth inning when Lindor slugged a 420-foot, three-run home run to center field. The long ball was his fourth through 13 games in June and his 17th overall this season. Lindor also swiped his 18th bag of the campaign in the contest, and he's one of seven major-leaguers with at least 15 homers and 15 thefts so far in 2024.
