Nimmo was scratched from the Mets' lineup prior to Thursday's game against the Phillies due to a stomach illness, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. Nimmo wasn't feeling well heading into Thursday's contest, so the Mets will give him the day off to recover. In the meantime, DJ Stewart will take Nimmo's place in left field and bat fifth, moving Tyrone Taylor into the leadoff spot.
The Mets recalled Walker from Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday. Walker represents a fresh arm for a bullpen that's been overused recently. The left-hander has made three scoreless appearances during his time with the Mets this season.
The Mets optioned Lucceshi to Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday. Lucchesi made a spot start Wednesday in Philadelphia, getting knocked around for five runs over 4.1 innings of work. He'll rejoin the Syracuse rotation while Josh Walker gives the Mets a fresh relief arm.
Bader isn't in the Mets' lineup for Thursday's game against the Phillies. Bader tallied a base hit in both of the games he played during New York's current series against Philadelphia, and he'll get a day off during Thursday's finale. His absence will allow Tyrone Taylor to start in center field, batting fifth.
Vientos went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI in Wednesday's loss to the Phillies. Called back up form Triple-A Syracuse earlier in the day, Vientos got the start at third base against lefty Ranger Suarez and made an immediate impact, driving home Francisco Lindor with a first-inning double. Vientos' time in the majors could last a little longer this time after he was up for about a week in late April, but the 24-year-old could still see limited action and is expected to serve mainly as a short-side platoon option at the hot corner behind Brett Baty. Through 31 games at Triple-A this year, Vientos is slashing .284/.376/.500 with six homers and 30 RBI.
Lindor went 0-for-3 with a walk, a run and two stolen bases Wednesday in a loss to Philadelphia. Lindor failed to record a hit for his third straight game, though he scored New York's first run following a hit-by-pitch in the first inning and swiped a pair of bags after walking in the third. The shortstop stole a career-high 31 bases last year but had been quiet in that category coming into Wednesday with just four thefts through 41 games. That's been part of a slow start overall for Lindor, who is slashing a meager .200/.276/.376 across 185 plate appearances.
Lucchesi (0-1) took the loss against Philadelphia on Wednesday, allowing five runs on five hits and four walks while striking out two batters over 4.1 innings. It certainly wasn't an ideal matchup for Lucchesi to make his first start of the season, and he didn't do himself any favors in issuing four free passes. Three of the walks came in the fifth frame, and all three of the recipients came around to score. The left-hander was also tormented by Bryce Harper, who hit a solo homer against him in the first inning and then sent him to the showers with a two-run double in the fifth. Lucchesi may return to the minors in short order with Tylor Megill (shoulder) expected to rejoin New York's rotation Sunday or Monday.
