Blue Jays should look at the underrated Yondrei Rojas for bullpen help in 2026.

The Toronto Blue Jays have a great selection of pitching prospects. Trey Yesavage is chief among them, with his nasty slider confounding the New York Yankees, Seattle Mariners, and Los Angeles Dodgers hitters in the postseason. Ricky Tiedemann, Jake Bloss, Johnny King, and Gage Stanifer are the other pitchers in the Blue Jays top 10 prospect list. However, Yondrei Rojas is one prospect that should be on every Blue Jays fan’s radar this year.

Rojas split his 2025 season between the Vancouver Canadians and New Hampshire Fisher Cats. In 30 games, he recorded 47 strikeouts, seven holds, and seven saves in 37 2/3 innings of work.

Rojas is an unranked prospect in the Blue Jays system who is flying under the radar. However, he should be garnering more attention to the point where he has to be considered for bullpen reinforcements the upcoming MLB season for the Blue Jays.

Yondrei Rojas Has Been Great Out of the Bullpen

The Baseball Unstitched podcast has provided a good statistical argument for Rojas being the best unranked pitching prospect currently in their system.

For starters, when you look past the basic analytics, Rojas had a great season.

In addition to the statistics mentioned in the tweet above, they wrote about Rojas in a subsequent post.

“Signed out of Venezuela in 2021 and finally broke out in 2025,” their post began. “The now 23 year old had some of the best K/BB ratios in the minor leagues while keeping the ball in the ground. He shows a good FB with solid CH and SL off of it. The FB is cut heavy in the mid 90s . Expect him to earn more opportunities at higher levels in 2026.”

A mid 90s fastball is nothing to scoff at. The 54 percent groundball rate is also very promising. If that’s something he can maintain as he continues to rise through the ranks, he could be a real asset to the Blue Jays sooner than later.

The Blue Jays Could Use Rojas in Their Bullpen

When considering Rojas’ potential impact on the Blue Jays bullpen, there are a few things to consider. For starters, the competition in the MLB is considerably harder than in the minors. But with the right deployment by the coaching staff and the proper preparation on Rojas’ end, it can certainly work.

There is one particular attribute of Rojas game that he shares with Tyler Rogers. Both pitchers have been great at not allowing home runs against.

In 2025, Rojas only surrendered one home run off of 22 hits. Additionally, he only gave up five doubles and zero triples.

However, this isn’t a trend that just started now. Rojas has given up 16 home runs over five years in the minors.

Rojas is a Strikeout Maestro

Rojas could be a huge help to the Blue Jays bullpen because of his lack of long balls against, but another area that is a strength is his strike-to-balls ratio.

In 2025, Rojas boasted an 11.23 K/9 to go along with a 2.63 BB/9. In comparison, Yesavage garnered a 14.69 K/9 and a 3.77 BB/9 across four different minor leagues in 2025.

Part of his ability to strikeout opponents is his mix of pitches. Rojas boasts a five-pitch mix of a four seamer, sinker, cutter, changeup, and slider.

According to Sam Dykstra, both his four seamer and sinker “sit 96-98 MPH.” While his “88-90 mph cutter can also show enough difference in both velo and horizontal movement to befuddle hitters.”

Dykstra goes on to say that “he’ll sprinkle in upper-80s changeups and mid-80s sliders.”

With a potent arsenal and great on-field results, Rojas will be one reliever that Blue Jays fans will need to keep their eyes on this season.

And, in the eyes of this writer, he deserves a shot at making the bullpen. If not in Spring Training, then down the road when injuries inevitably hit.
