Trey Yesavage: Everything you need to know

Yesavage (1-1) took the loss Sunday against the Twins, allowing a run on five hits and three walks over four innings. He struck out six. It wasn't a bad outing overall for Yesavage, as he held the Twins to a lone run on a two-out single in the opening frame, though he only managed to make it through four innings, throwing 82 pitches. In two starts since returning from the IL, the 22-year-old Yesavage has given up just one run on nine hits while striking out nine over 9.1 innings. Yesavage is tentatively lined up to face the Angels at home his next time out.

Yesavage (1-0) earned the win against the Red Sox on Tuesday, allowing four hits while striking out three across 5.1 innings. He did not issue a walk. Yesavage was activated off the 15-day IL ahead of Tuesday's start following his recovery from a right shoulder impingement. He gave up three hits through the first two innings but kept the Red Sox off the board, and Yesavage dominated the rest of the way, retiring 11 of the last 12 batters he faced before being lifted in the sixth. He was limited to 74 pitches (50 strikes) and generated only five whiffs, but Yesavage's performance in his first major-league game of the season was encouraging after posting an 8.59 ERA and 1.77 WHIP across 14.2 innings in five minor-league rehab outings. His next turn in the rotation is slated for this weekend on the road against the Twins.

The Blue Jays activated Yesavage (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday. Yesavage is set to make his season debut Tuesday against the Red Sox after getting a late start to the season due to a right shoulder impingement. The right-hander held an 8.59 ERA and 1.77 WHIP in four rehab starts, though he did strike out 22 batters across 14.2 innings. Yesavage threw 64 pitches in his final rehab outing, so he will not be ready for a full workload Tuesday.
