The Golden State Warriors‘ 2025-26 campaign has come to an end, and the future is looking increasingly murky for the team as a whole. While the organization will continue to work on maximizing its championship window with Stephen Curry, it remains to be seen who will stick around to help him in his quest to bring another title back to Golden State.
Curry’s longtime partners, forward Draymond Green and head coach Steve Kerr, both could ultimately wind up departing the team this offseason. Another guy whose future appeared to be up in the air was general manager Mike Dunleavy, but based on a new report, it sounds like he will be remaining in town for years to come.
Warriors ‘Quietly Signed’ Mike Dunleavy to Contract Extension
Over the past few seasons, the Warriors have done everything they can to build a championship contender around Curry. To this point, though, their efforts have failed. Injuries destroyed the 2025-26 team, as Jimmy Butler suffered a torn ACL in January, and Curry only suited up in 43 games, thanks in large part to a lingering right knee injury.
Widespread changes appear to be coming this offseason. After moving on from Klay Thompson a couple of years ago, Green’s time with Golden State could end this offseason as well. Kerr appears to be on the fence when it comes to returning for the 2026-27 campaign, meaning the Dubs could be looking for a new head coach in a couple of weeks.
While he’s been aggressive when it comes to his roster-building move, Dunleavy has to assume a fair portion of the blame for the Warriors’ recent woes. Despite that, the team remains committed to him, as he reportedly “quietly signed” a new contract extension with Golden State a few months ago that will keep him in town for the foreseeable future.
“On the management side, the Warriors are committed to Dunleavy and he remains committed to them, despite external noise about Chicago’s front office vacancies,” Ramona Shelburne and Anthony Slater of ESPN reported. “Dunleavy quietly signed an extension in recent months, team sources said, and has multiple years left on his deal.”

It’s great that Dunleavy is sticking around, but he’s going to have his work cut out for him this offseason. Pretty much everything is on the table when it comes to maximizing Curry’s final years. Blockbuster trades, key departures, and underrated free agent signings are all going to be required from Dunleavy this offseason, and simply put, he’s going to have to play his hand perfectly.
The Warriors will not be the same when they return to the court next season, but the changes that they are set to make have been expected for months. Now, Dunleavy has to step up to the plate and prove precisely why Golden State opted to commit to him as the leader of its front office for the next few years.
