Almost the entire Los Angeles Lakers roster is in Slovenia for a minicamp hosted by Luka Doncic.
It’s a way for the Lakers to develop chemistry ahead of next month’s official training camp in preparation for the 2026-27 season.
The Lakers made a bunch of roster moves this offseason, and this minicamp in Slovenia is a way for the players to bond and know each other more.
Luka Doncic Shares Update on Lakers Minicamp
In a post on Instagram, Luka Doncic shared multiple images from the Los Angeles Lakers minicamp in Slovenia.
“Day 3 🚣♂️⛳️🇸🇮,” Doncic wrote.
The first image showed the entire Los Angeles Lakers roster on a golf course. Cameron Carr and Sandro Mamukelashvili were absent from the team photo.
Carr wasn’t part of the minicamp since he was attending the mandatory rookie orientation set up by the NBA. Mamukelashvili is in Slovenia and just wasn’t in the first photo.
After playing golf, the Lakers players went to Lake Bled, one of Slovenia’s popular tourist attractions. They went kayaking, and the players were wearing the signature Lakers yellow colors.
Bronny James also had his own photo in the post, laughing and enjoying time on the golf course. Many expected Bronny to get dealt to the Philadelphia 76ers after LeBron’s decision to sign with them in the offseason.
However, it seems like Bronny will be staying with the Lakers this upcoming season.
Luka Doncic’s Expectations for Next Season
The Los Angeles Lakers will look very different next season outside of Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves, Jarred Vanderbilt, Bronny James, Dalton Knecht, Adou Thiero and Jake LaRavia.
The Lakers were very busy this summer, acquiring Walker Kessler from the Utah Jazz in a sign-and-trade and Jaden Hardy from the Washington Wizards. They also signed multiple free agents, such as Quentin Grimes, Collin Sexton, Sandro Mamukelashvili, Matisse Thybulle, Kevon Looney and Ziaire Williams.
Speaking to Golf Channel’s Rich Lerner last month, Doncic revealed his expectations for the 2026-27 season.
“I think we have a really good team,” Doncic said. “I’m very excited to start the next season. Obviously, last season didn’t end how we wanted, so we’re excited for the new season.”
The Lakers reached the Western Conference semifinals despite Doncic’s absence due to injury. He finished the season fourth in MVP voting and could have made things interesting against the Oklahoma City Thunder if he were healthy.
Luka Doncic’s Future With the Lakers Questioned
The Los Angeles Lakers signed Luka Doncic to a three-year extension last year, which will start this season. Doncic has a player option for the 2028-29 season, meaning he can become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2028.
ESPN’s Tim MacMahon warned the Lakers about the possibility of teams being interested in Doncic, especially if the franchise fails to win a championship in the next two years.
“There’s teams around the league that are looking at that situation and saying, ‘Hey, if this thing goes sideways, we’d sure like to get Luka in the midway through his prime,'” MacMahon said, via New York Post.
The Lakers begin training camp on September 29. Their first preseason game is on October 5 against the Sacramento Kings.
