Brandon Ingram isn’t hiding from the moment. With the Toronto Raptors down 2-0 in their first-round series against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the spotlight has shifted directly onto their All-Star forward. Two quiet scoring performances, including a 3-for-15 showing in Game 2, have raised questions externally, per Sports Illustrated. Internally, the message sounds very different.

“It’s hard, tough, and you go back and you’re not doing your job, especially what they brought you here to do,” Ingram said when addressing his recent struggles. “Either you stay in it emotionally, or you continue to try to figure it out.”

That response captures the weight of expectation. Toronto brought Ingram in to deliver in moments like this. He knows it, and he isn’t deflecting. Instead, he is leaning into the challenge as Game 3 approaches.

Ingram Balances Frustration With Accountability

Ingram didn’t shy away from the emotional side of his performance. He described a process that starts with disappointment but quickly turns into reflection and growth.

“My teammates are always there for me. My coaches, my support team at home,” Ingram said. “But, I like to sit in disappointment for a little bit, just to see where I went wrong, give myself some gratitude, think about the things that went well, and then get back into the fight.”

That mindset reflects a player trying to recalibrate under pressure rather than avoid it. After taking just nine shots in Game 1, Ingram made it clear that approach would not work.

“At the end of the day, me shooting nine shots is not going to win basketball games,” he said.

He responded with increased volume in Game 2, but efficiency did not follow. Now, the focus shifts to finding the balance between aggression and execution with the season potentially hanging in the balance.

Raptors Teammates Reinforce Confidence

Despite the shooting numbers, the Raptors locker room continues to rally around Ingram. RJ Barrett delivered a direct message after Game 2, emphasizing both trust and perspective.

“Yeah, I just told him ‘stay in it. Stay in it. We need you,’” Barrett said, via Sportsnet’s Michael Grange. “He’s got us here. The whole season, it’s been amazing for us. He’s been an All-Star. So just told him to stay in it, keep his head in it, that we need him.”

Scottie Barnes echoed that support, focusing on process over results and reinforcing the importance of Ingram’s presence on the floor.

“Brandon is a very important player for us,” Barnes said, also via Grange. “The ball did not go in tonight. We need him to continue being aggressive and shooting. I’ve got absolute support for him. He’s going to make his shots.”

That collective belief highlights a key theme for Toronto. The team doesn’t view Ingram’s struggles as a breaking point. They see them as a temporary hurdle within a larger system built on shared responsibility.

Game 3 now carries clear stakes. No team has erased a 3-0 deficit in a best-of-seven series, which places urgency on Toronto’s response. Ingram understands that reality but kept his focus grounded, per TSN.

“I’m confident that I won’t miss all my shots,” he said. “But I’m also confident in our team.”

As the series shifts back to Toronto, the conversation centers on whether that confidence translates into production. For Ingram, the approach remains unchanged. Acknowledge the struggle, trust the work, and keep fighting.
