NFL Insider Says Lamar Jackson’s Future in Baltimore Isn’t Guaranteed

The Baltimore Ravens made a big change this offseason, moving on from longtime head coach John Harbaugh and hiring Jesse Minter. Almost immediately, attention shifted to quarterback Lamar Jackson and whether he will still be in Baltimore when the 2026 season begins.

NFL insider Mike Florio said Jackson’s future may not be locked in, especially after the Ravens went with a defensive-minded coach instead of bringing in an offensive specialist.

NFL Insider Says Lamar Jackson’s Ravens Future Is ‘Not a Given’

Speaking on Pro Football Talk, Florio suggested that Jackson could consider moving on from Baltimore following the coaching change.

“I don’t think it’s a given Lamar Jackson is gonna be back with the Ravens,” Florio said. “I think there’s still a chance that Lamar Jackson decides it’s time for a fresh start for him.”

Florio added that Jackson’s reaction to Minter’s hiring could be a deciding factor.

“We don’t know what he’s thinking,” Florio said. “The threshold question is what does he think about Jesse Minter?”

Minter worked with the Ravens from 2017 to 2020, so he already knows Jackson from his earlier time in Baltimore. Jackson has not commented publicly on the hire and does not use an agent, keeping most contract conversations private.

Jackson has spent his entire NFL career with the Ravens, but league chatter has picked up as the team enters a new era under Minter.

Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti addressed Jackson’s future earlier this year, saying the team wants to keep him in Baltimore for the long haul.

“We want another window, and Lamar knows that,” Bisciotti said via the Ravens website. “I think he is amenable to doing something that mirrors the last deal that he did, although the annual number will be a little higher. But I’m hoping that it’s plug in your number in the same contract he signed [in 2023] and move on.”

Former Ravens Receiver Pushes Joe Brady as Key to Keeping Lamar Jackson

With Minter officially in place, Baltimore is now searching for an offensive coordinator — and former Ravens wide receiver Willie Snead IV believes the right hire could make all the difference for Jackson.

Snead publicly endorsed Joe Brady, who has helped oversee Josh Allen’s offense in recent seasons.

“I love the hire that they did with Jesse, and if they can steal Joe Brady, I think that would be the way to go,” Snead said.

Snead pointed to Brady’s experience working with dual-threat quarterbacks as a major advantage.

“Joe’s worked with an MVP and Josh Allen,” Snead said. “And I think Joe is able to take Lamar’s game to a whole other level.”

He also highlighted Baltimore’s long-standing identity as a defense-first organization.

“They’re built on defense. They’re built on special teams. And then offense feels like it’s always been secondary,” Snead said.

According to Snead, hiring Brady would signal a shift in philosophy, placing greater emphasis on offensive development rather than treating it as an afterthought.

Although Jackson reportedly favors Kliff Kingsbury, Snead stressed Brady’s consistent NFL success.

“If I was in the building in Baltimore, I would try to do everything I can to get Joe,” Snead said. “Joe has proven that he can work with dropback quarterbacks. He’s worked with dual-threat quarterbacks.”
