The Buffalo Bills have a lot to be hopeful about going into the 2025-26 season, and a big part of that is their MVP-winning quarterback, Josh Allen. As the season kicks off, all eyes are going to be on Allen and the Bills to see if this franchise can finally take home a championship. It seems like now is their best chance in a long time to do so.
So, when it comes to big-named quarterbacks, there’s Allen, plus a few others that we would rather not mention, but we will, in Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs and Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens. But, Allen should top both of those names, right? He’s the man of the moment and coming off that big MVP win, after all.
Now, the NFL has unveiled their tally of the best players in the league, and Allen has a great spot and sits in the top 10. But, it’s not all smooth sailing, because he’s actually not the top ranked quarterback in the NFL on this tally.
Buffalo Bills Quarterbacks Josh Allen is No. 3 in the NFL
As the new NFL season approaches, everyone is releasing their tallies of the best players in the league. Now, Michael Baca of the NFL’s website has released his top 10 players in the league, counting all positions. In the piece, out on September 1, he ranks Eagles Running Back Saquon Barkley as the No. 1 best player in the entire league. That’s a huge honor, and as much as it pains us to say this on a Bills page, it’s hard to deny that Barkley deserves that No. 1 spot.
So, where does Allen fall? He’s No. 3 on the tally, out of 100, so that’s a really high place. He even beats out Mahomes, who’s No. 5. But, he’s not the best quarterback in the league on this roster.
Jackson is ranked the No. 2 best place in the NFL this season, so he’s one point above Allen. Of Jackson, Baca notes, “The top-rated quarterback on the Top 100, Jackson continues to the raise the bar as one of the most dynamic players the NFL has ever seen. In 2024, Baltimore’s superstar turned in his best statistical season as a passer with career highs in yards, touchdowns, yards per attempt and passer rating (119.6) while also boasting his lowest interception total as a full-time starter.”
Praise for Josh Allen of the Bills
As for Allen, Baca praises his most recent seasons and does have kind words to say about the signal-called. Allen has “compiled eye-popping numbers in past seasons, but a more calculated version of the Bills‘ star quarterback resulted in his highest standing in the Top 100,” Baca says, adding that “Allen’s tremendous growth in Year 7 and the story he authored in Buffalo resulted in him being awarded 2024 most valuable player honors despite numbers that would suggest an average season. It was anything but.”
It would have been great to have seen Allen be the top ranked quarterback in the NFL, but this just leaves Allen and the Bills even more hungry for a championship. Congrats to all of the quarterbacks who made the cut.
