The Buffalo Bills have been busy this offseason, with all of their moves geared towards improving the team’s chances of finally getting over the hump and reaching the Super Bowl. Their biggest moves have largely involved signing their core group of star players to long-term contract extensions, but they have also orchestrated several reunions over the past few months.
Heading into the new season, Tre’Davious White, Dane Jackson, Jordan Phillips, Jordan Poyer, and Gabe Davis are all players Buffalo formerly had at their disposal that previously left the team, only to return this offseason. With Davis signing just days before Buffalo returns to action, it sounds like another former wide receiver, Isaiah McKenzie, would also be open to returning to the Bills.
Isaiah McKenzie Makes Thoughts on Potential Bills’ Reunion Clear
McKenzie initially broke into the league as a fifth-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, getting selected by the Denver Broncos. After spending a year-and-a-half with them, McKenzie was released, with the Bills scooping in to claim him off of waivers, which is where he would spend the next four seasons of his career.
Initially used primarily as a special teams player, McKenzie gradually got more involved on offense, becoming a secondary playmaker for star quarterback Josh Allen in the passing game. He enjoyed his best season in 2022, when he caught 42 passes for 423 yards and four touchdowns. Those numbers helped McKenzie earn a new deal with the Indianapolis Colts in free agency.
McKenzie never panned out with the Colts, though, and while he spent time with the New York Giants and Miami Dolphins in 2024, the speedy receiver didn’t take the field at all last year. Heading into the 2025 season, McKenzie is still a free agent, but with the Bills making several reunions happen, it sounds like he would also be open to returning to Buffalo this year.
#Bringlildirtyback,” McKenzie said in a post on X in response to the news that Davis was returning to the Bills.
Should the Bills Sign Isaiah McKenzie in Free Agency?

Buffalo is heading into the new season with a fairly deep wide receiver depth chart. Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, and Joshua Palmer are leading the way, with Davis, Elijah Moore, Curtis Samuel, and Tyrell Shavers also factoring into the mix. Right off the bat, there simply may not be any room for McKenzie, unless he’s willing to accept a spot on the team’s practice squad as a depth option in case somebody gets hurt.
Shakir and Samuel are both dealing with injuries, but that’s why the team added Davis. Would they really need McKenzie as another option on offense, especially when considering his impact during his first stint with the team wasn’t exactly major? At this stage of the game, it seems unlikely, but if injuries pile up at this position, Buffalo could turn to McKenzie later in the season, assuming he doesn’t latch on with another team before then.
