The Cincinnati Bengals offseason has been a struggle to watch after Trey Hendrickson signed with the Baltimore Ravens. On the bright side of things, the Bengals have signed offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr. to a two-year contract extension.
“Bengals signed OT Orlando Brown Jr. to a two-year contract extension through the 2028 season.” Adam Schefter wrote on his official X account.
The Cincinnati Bengals sign back a major part of their offensive line. The Bengals have had a history not protecting Joe Burrow enough since he came into the league in 2019. Burrow will now have all five of his starting offensive linemen from last season in the lineup in 2026.
Orlando Brown Signed Through 2028
Brown was heading into the final year of his deal before initially signing the extension. Now, the big man will stay in Cincy through 2028.
Orlando Brown Jr. has made his mark in the NFL by being a captain and a Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee.
“The city, the team, this is what I envisioned for myself,” Brown said during a press conference. “Having that stability. Being somewhere I want to be. I think the feeling is mutual from upstairs down.”
Orlando Brown Jr. is the son of the late Orlando “Zeus,” Brown Sr., a former right tackle for the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens before the AFC Central morphed into the brutally AFC North.
Brown will remain Joe Burrow’s best pass protector in 2026. After a disappointing 2025 season, the Bengals will hope to turn things around in 2026.
“The Blackburn family and the Brown family made this a smooth negotiation,” Brown said. “Steve was great just being honest and up front. The deal creates a sense of stability for [me] and the organization. I didn’t necessarily feel the need to reset the market. We have great players in this locker room. It’s rare for a player to say, but making it team friendly … The way that I see it, it puts me and my family and the organization in a good spot.”
Brown Signed After Trey Hendrickson Signed with Ravens
This signing will serve as good news for Cincy to protect Joe Burrow from some of the AFC North’s premier pass rushers. One of those pass rushers include the newest Baltimore Raven Trey Hendrickson.
The former Cincinnati Bengals Pass Rusher has agreed to terms on a four-year, $120 Million contract with the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens pick up a 4-time Pro Bowl pass rusher while Cincy loses one of their bright spots on defense.
Though extending Orlando Brown resigning is a major deal, the offense–as a whole–for Cincy has not been the problem for the past three years. The Bengals must address their defensive issues, but this signing is a good first step for the franchise.
“I’ve got tremendous relationships in the locker room that have grown with guys like Joe, Ja’Marr [Chase], Chase Brown. I could name so many men in there. It’s just continuing to build on that culture on the way to winning a Super Bowl.” Brown said.
