The Green Bay Packers have not gotten off to a fast start to begin the 2026 NFL offseason. They have lost more players than they have brought in, which has fans a bit nervous.

Among the notable departures for the Packers are quarterback Malik Willis, pass rusher Rashan Gary, wide receiver Romeo Doubs, linebacker Quay Walker, cornerback Nate Hobbs, and offensive linemen Elgton Jenkins and Rasheed Walker.

While there are obvious holes that Green Bay will need to fill, Brian Gutekunst and the front office have plenty of time to fill them. Micah Parsons is set to miss the first few weeks of the 2026 NFL offseason or so, which could lead to the Packers having interest in adding another pass rusher, especially with Gary no longer in town.

Keeping that in mind, Green Bay has been named as a team that could get “help” from a key 2025 starter on the Dallas Cowboys.

Green Bay Packers Could Find a Role for Jadeveon Clowny

Bill Huber of On SI, a longtime reporter covering the Packers, has suggested that Jadeveon Clowney could make sense as a free agency target for Green Bay.

Of course, Clowney was signed early in the regular season to help replace the loss of Parsons. He played very well for the Cowboys and there were rumblings about the team wanting to bring him back. So far, they haven’t done that.

Clowney played in 13 games for Dallas last season, racking up 41 total tackles to go along with 8.5 sacks, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and four defended passes.

Originally drafted No. 1 overall by the Houston Texans back in the 2014 NFL Draft, Clowney has never quite lived up to the hype. When he came into the league, many felt that he had a chance to be a superstar. He has been a quality player, but not a superstar.

Should the Packers consider bringing him onboard to help Parsons?

Making the Case for Green Bay to Sign Jadeveon Clowney

At the end of the day, pass rushing is everything in the NFL. With Parsons coming back from a torn ACL, it would be wise for Green Bay to have elite depth at the position.

Behind Parsons, the Packers have a few solid options. Lukas Van Ness is in for what the team hopes will be a breakout season in a bigger role. Green Bay also has Karl Brooks, Brenton Cox Jr., and Edgerrin Cooper who can help. Both Collin Oliver and Barryn Sorrell will have bigger roles as well.

There is no question that the Packers have pass rushing options. However, there could be reason for concern with the lack of experience or proven track record.

If the price tag is reasonable, Clowney would make a ton of sense for Green Bay. In a season where the Packers are all-in on competing for a Super Bowl, having a piece like Clowney could make a huge difference late in the year.
