Veteran cornerback Stephon Gilmore could reinforce the Packers' 2025 roster.

The Green Bay Packers have a stronger sense of the talent on their roster after wrapping up their spring workout program earlier this month, but there are still a few spots where they could stand to add talent before training camp.

Back on June 9, the Packers released veteran cornerback Jaire Alexander from their roster after making efforts to keep him in the rotation for the 2025 season. While they have expressed confidence in their other cornerbacks, they could still pay the position some attention in the weeks before their rookie report for camp action on July 18.

The Packers also have expected starting center Elgton Jenkins seeking a new contract, which caused him to hold out of OTAs before reporting to mandatory minicamp. If the team cannot make progress with him before camp, they may need to seek out more reinforcements for the interior of their offensive line if he holds out further in camp.

Here are three unsigned free agents who could interest the Packers before camp:

1.) Stephon Gilmore, CB

The Packers are confident in the capabilities of their cornerback trio of Keisean Nixon, Nate Hobbs and Carrington Valentine heading into the 2025 season, but their depth is much shakier behind the three of them. To remedy that, the Packers could sign Gilmore — who turns 35 in September — and trust in a reliable former Pro Bowler who has made 48 starts for three teams over the past three seasons and missed only three games.

Gilmore is no longer the player he was when he made four consecutive Pro Bowls from 2018 to 2021, but he is still an effective coverage piece who helped the Vikings excel in the NFC North last season. According to Pro Football Focus, he also earned the 28th-best grade as a run defender among 222 eligible cornerbacks during the 2024 season.

Projected contract offer: One year, $5.5 million.

2.) Von Miller, DE

The Packers have six drafted edge rushers on their 90-man roster heading into the start of training camp, including two first-round picks in Rashan Gary and Lukas Van Ness and fifth-round rookie Collin Oliver. With questions lingering about Van Ness’ progress and the group’s inconsistency in 2024, though, the Packers could still consider making a more substantial player to bolster the unit — such as signing a future Hall of Famer.

Miller, 36, is in the twilight of his career and has struggled with injuries over the past four seasons. He is also just two years removed from a 12-game, zero-sack stinker for Buffalo in 2023, though he bounced back to record six sacks in 13 games in 2024. That said, the Packers could find an impactful use for a veteran with nearly 130 career sacks as a rotational pass rusher behind Gary and Van Ness. The security he would bring to the position would also keep them from needing to rely on their young guys too early.

Projected contract offer: One year, $10 million (with incentives)

3.) Jedrick Wills Jr., OT

The Packers might not feel that adding another offensive tackle is necessary. Zach Tom and Rasheed Walker are entering contract years, but neither one is threatening to hold out from camp without a new deal in place first. The Packers also added two rookies in the draft: Anthony Belton in the second round and John Williams in the seventh round.

If the Packers are worried that having rookie backups at both tackle spots could hinder their Super Bowl pursuit, though, they could explore signing Wills and trying their hand at unlocking his potential as a former first-round pick. According to Pro Football Focus, Wills earned a 63.6 pass-blocking grade in 2024, allowing three sacks and 11 pressures in five games, though he struggled as a run-blocker in his limited action. Even if they only brought him in to push Belton and Williams, he would be low-cost and low-risk.

Projected contract offer: One year, $3 million.
