Pundits have focused the Minnesota Vikings offseason on the team’s quarterback situation with Kyler Murray and J.J. McCarthy. The team moving on from a few veteran defensive lineman has also been at the center of Minnesota’s free agency.
On Monday, Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport focused on the team’s offensive line.
When tasked to name one remaining free agent every NFL team should target this offseason, Davenport picked veteran interior offensive lineman Graham Glasgow for the Vikings.
“Graham Glasgow played almost 900 snaps at center for the Detroit Lions last year alone. In a decade-long career spent in Detroit and Denver, Glasgow has played extensively at all three positions on the interior of the offensive line,” wrote Davenport.
“At 33, Glasgow’s best football is probably behind him. But he was a capable starter last year in Detroit, giving up just a single sack and committing two penalties across 873 snaps per Pro Football Focus.”
Glasgow spent the past three seasons with the Detroit Lions. He also played the first four campaigns of his 10-year career in Detroit.
During his most recent Lions stint, Glasgow started 45 games across the three interior offensive line spots. In 2025, he started 14 games at center.
Davenport sees Glasgow as a potential solution for the Vikings at center.
Over 10 NFL seasons, Glasgow has earned $47.2 million. In between his Lions stints, the interior lineman played for the Denver Broncos.
How Graham Glasgow Could Fit With the Vikings
The Vikings could still be in the market for a center because Ryan Kelly retired this offseason. Kelly spent just one season in Minnesota, but he was a nine-year veteran who made four Pro Bowls and second-team All-Pro.
As the depth stands on March 30, the Vikings are set to have Blake Brandel and Michael Jurgens compete for the starting center job.
Brandel has five years of NFL experience, but he’s lined up for only 363 snaps at center. All of those came last season.
Jurgens possesses one year of NFL experience on offense and has played 309 career snaps at center.
Glasgow offers a lot more detailed resume at center. He’s played at least 600 snaps at center in three of his 10 NFL seasons.
The 33-year-old also wouldn’t be a wasted roster spot if he doesn’t start at center. Glasgow has just as much experience at both left and right guard as he does at center.
In 10 NFL seasons, the veteran has started 136 NFL games. He played left guard on Detroit’s 2024 offensive line. During that season, the Lions supported a league-best 15-2 regular season record.
Why the Vikings Might Not Want to Sign Glasgow
Glasgow could offer a similar veteran presence as Kelly did. However, the Vikings might want to give pause to signing him.
There’s a reason the Lions released Glasgow this offseason. Yes, he wasn’t worth his 2026 cap hit anymore. But in 2025, Glasgow didn’t take to his transition to center.
At Pro Football Focus, the veteran posted a 56.8 player grade in 2025. He was below average in both run blocking and pass protection.
Perhaps age is playing a role in Glasgow’s recent PFF player grades. He was also below average even on Detroit’s elite offensive line in 2024.
In 2023, Glasgow had a strong season, particularly in run blocking, posting a 74.9 overall PFF grade and 82.1 run blocking grade.
The Vikings still have a precarious salary cap situation. Signing Glasgow might not be prudent since there isn’t a guarantee he offers a significant upgrade over Brandel or Jurgens.
If they could land Glasgow on a cheap, 1-year deal, though, he could be a quality addition in Minnesota.
