The subject of a blockbuster trade rumor involving Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowl edge rusher Jonathan Greenard did not put any stock into his name surfacing.
Greenard made a seemingly innocuous post on X, saying, “This app never ceases to amaze me by the ignorance of ppl. Don’t assume cause… yall know the rest.”
Fans took the post as a reference to a trade rumor from Sports Illustrated’s Grant Cohn, who said the Vikings are planning to offer the Bengals two first-round picks, J.J. McCarthy and Greenard for Burrow.
Several fans replied to Greenard’s post, telling him to “get ready to learn Ohio” and “Cincinnati is not that bad.” Greenard responded with laughing emojis.
Insider Debunks Vikings, 49ers Trade Idea Involving Justin Jefferson

While reporting the possible trade package involving Greenard, Cohn to the opportunity to strike down a trade idea involving the San Francisco 49ers‘ push for Justin Jefferson.
“[The Vikings] want to get right back into contention,” Cohn said in a video posted on X. “They’re planning to offer J.J. McCarthy and Jonathan Greenard, and two first‑round picks to the Cincinnati Bengals for Joe Burrow. If the Bengals say no, then they might go out and get Kirk Cousins, bring him back.
“What they’re not going to do is trade Justin Jefferson from Minnesota to the Niners because they said, ‘Pretty, pretty, please.’ So fun idea, but if the Niners want a wide receiver for Minnesota, it’s Jordan Addison.”
The Vikings are likely more inclined to part ways with Addison amid his behavioral problems, but what that trade package would look like is up for debate.
Minnesota would surely want a first-round pick for the former No. 23 overall pick despite the questions around his off-field behavior.
The 49ers aren’t going to get the greatest deal by agreeing to that, but they do have a tradeable asset who could address the biggest issue in Minnesota this offseason, quarterback Mac Jones.
Joe Burrow Comments Should Not Be Overlooked by Vikings
Regardless of the perception of the trade rumor involving Greenard and McCarthy for Burrow, the Vikings should be assessing the price to reunite Burrow and Jefferson.
There is an iceberg of trade conversations that never sees the public surface in the NFL. No matter the validity of the deal, the Vikings should understand the asking price for every tier of quarterback that could become available.
Last offseason, they overlooked the possibility Daniel Jones could go elsewhere and wound up needing to sign Carson Wentz off the streets as their veteran backup to McCarthy.
They will have to find a more capable quarterback who will be costly for the organization in either cap space or draft capital to acquire.
That’s the price to pay for competent quarterback play, but it doesn’t mean the Vikings shouldn’t be informed before they go shopping in the trade market or free agency.
