The Minnesota Vikings have to start pondering whether they want to commit long-term to wideout Jordan Addison. Minnesota has control of the pass-catcher under contract until 2027 or 2028, should the team decide to pick up his fifth-year option, per Spotrac.
Nonetheless, it’s likely Addison’s camp will want the player’s future resolved by then. While the former USC Trojan star is a quality No. 2 guy behind Justin Jefferson, he’s had problems off the field.
Last year, the NFL suspended Addison without pay for the first three games of the 2025 season for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. Moreover, he was also benched last season as a disciplinary measure for missing a walk-through practice.
As a result, do the Vikings believe they can pay Addison a long-term contract, or could the team listen to offers? FanSided’s Austen Bundy could see the Washington Commanders targeting Addison if Minnesota decides not to pay him.
“Here’s where the hypothetical gets a little lofty,” Bundy wrote in a March 20 article. “If Peters is unwilling to sign what’s left at the bottom of the barrel in [Brandon] Aiyuk, [Kennan] Allen, [Jauan] Jennings, or [Tyreek] Hill, then perhaps a blockbuster trade could be another option.
“The Minnesota Vikings are not in “win-now” mode but clearly have expectations of challenging for the NFC North title. They probably won’t deal a top player before April’s draft, but if by the time the November deadline comes around new QB Kyler Murray isn’t cutting it, they may be more willing to deal.”
What Could the Vikings Get for Jordan Addison?
As for what it could take for the Commanders to land Addison, Bundy believes that a Day 2 pick in 2027 could be enticing for Minnesota. It will be interesting to see whether this type of offer leads to a trade in the future.
“Jordan Addison is on the final year of his rookie contract and due a hefty payday sooner rather than later,” Bundy added. “It wouldn’t surprise anyone if he secretly believes he’s stuck in Justin Jefferson’s shadow and wants more opportunity elsewhere.
“Washington could be a worthy destination if Daniels is back to full strength and the team is once again a contender: Addison would still be WR2 behind [Terry] McLaurin, but the incentive to re-sign would be inheriting the offense with Daniels in his prime. Washington should offer a 2027 second-rounder and third-rounder for continuity at wideout.”
DeAndre Hopkins Would Like to Reunite With Kyler Murray
Speaking of wideouts, during a quick conversation with TMZ Sports, DeAndre Hopkins said he would like to reunite with new Vikings QB Kyler Murray, whom he played with during his time with the Arizona Cardinals.
“Kyler … that’s my bro, man. Kyler is like family,” Hopkins said in a TMZ article published on March 22. “Whatever I can do for someone like that — if Kyler needed me, if the Vikings need me, they know I’ll be there.”
The 33-year-old spent last season with the Baltimore Ravens, recording 22 receptions for 330 receiving yards, averaging 15.0 yards per reception, and two touchdowns.
